Continental Centre Hotel Amsterdam    

We stayed at continental hotel for three nights last week and were not impressed by the quality of service we received..Three couples went together and one couple actually got bites in their bed. They also had pest control come in and spray the room when relaxing in room. This couple also had a mouse trap in the bedroom, which is not a very welcoming site.We had to ask each day for clean towels and for the room to be serviced.At £100 per night I think it could have been a lot better.Air conditioning should be added to rooms as it was impossible to sleep as rooms so hot and opening the window was not an option because of the stink coming up from the waste disposal drains. Anyone going to amsterdam should stay clear of this hotel.

I booked 3 nights in this hotel despite some terrible reviews - i figured I was only going to be there to sleep so how bad could it be...........I was on the top floor (the 4th) and the first thing you notice is how steep the stairs are - if you have lots of luggage then prepare for a climb that would give Chris Bonnington a heart attack. There are rails on either side but they need to be used to pull you up rather than help you up...I am a fit bloke, but it's the last thing you need at night after a puff and a few rounds with some Bulgarian hookers...My room was small...but that 's okay, i wasn't planning on having guests. The first thing i noticed was that there was a glove on the ceiling which seemed to be covering an old light fitting. Bizarre, but not enough to have me worried , yet.During my first night i realised the floor was on a slant ,which meant that when i was in bed i was sleeping at an angle and kept rolling into the wall - not very comfy. This coupled with the paper thin walls meaning i had to listen to the bloke next door farting in Spanish and resulted in a very poor nights sleep indeed..I arrived in the middle of a heatwave so the room was baking hot (can't blame the hotel for the weather mind you), so when i got up during the second night to get a drink of water i noticed 3 or 4 cockroaches on the floor when i switched on the light. I nipped down to reception and the guy was shocked " We've only ever had cockroaches on the 1st floor!,,,," Anyway, he was great, and not only offered to change my room, but also came and bug sprayed it , and lent me his fan so i could get a decent kip!In summary, the staff and location are top class, the hotel itself is a disaster area.

Hotel was good for what me and my friends wanted - a base for a one day/night in Amsterdam for a stag do. It was clean and the bathroom was very good considering this hotel is really a hostel of sorts. The room was very hot so we had to have to window open all night which made it very noisy. Although it was expensive for what you get, the location made it a good place to be for night life. So if you don't mind paying a bit more for location over comfort then I would recommend this hotel but I wouldn't stay there for more than one night.

This hotel is perfect if you want just sleep after visiting some coffee shops . Don't expect more from this hotel. Near from all you want to visit .

I needed a lot of sleep after working through the night, and was worried about not being able to wake up. Construction crew made sure to wake me up; though they weren't particularly loud, the street echoes quite loudly. Other than that, Continental is one of my favorite spots to stay in Amsterdam. The price is slowly going upward, but it can still be considered because the location is very central.

Stayed at thsi Hotel in Amsterdam. Room small but OK. The only gripe I had is the shared bathroom. It is very small with no where to hang your clothes to stop them getting wet when having a shower. This would put me off staying at this hotel again.... other than this - fine.... also very noisy people staying a few rooms away at night - banging doors and lots of talking...

Cons: Shared bathroom, window wouldn't close, 4 flights of very steep stairs.

Pros: Amazing location.great for nipping in and out of your hotel without having to take much out with you for the day

Pros: It was practically in the city centre. room was clean.
Cons: I felt fooled by the internet booking wich said the price for the room. since they only informed about price pr. person in a double room, so the price ended up twice what i had planned.

also, the fire alarm went off constantly because our neighbors were smoking in their room.

Pros: The hotel was central to evey where you need to go in amsterdam
Cons: Had a nasty fall while comming out of shower but staff did not seem to care when asked for help .no forth comming

Cons: Tiny bed, very loud, the shower door had disappeared.... not value for money.

Cons: The hotel was not what i expected. for the price i paid for this hotel it is not worth the money. i requested to have private shower and bathroom, only got the private shower and had to share a bathroom with another 4 rooms.
