How to reach the Hotel De Filosoof?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 1 from the square in front of the station to the Jan Pieter Heijestraat/overtoom. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 4 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

We had stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago and had enjoyed the experience. this time however was not the same.
the room we were in (and the beds) was very small.
the general impression was that it was very run down and in need of upkeep.
facilities in the room were poor although the staff were pleasant and helpful.Anonymous

The staff are excellent being always pleasant and helpful. location quiet with easy walks and transport links into the centre.We booked a room with a double bed and on arrival had two singel beds pushed together, room was changed next day without trouble. the rooms in the annex are a little tired. breakfast good but too expensive at 15 euros each.Anonymous

We were very pleased with the filosoof. we upgraded one room to a suite which was a very nice room and worth the additional 30 euro per night. the room our older children had was small but suitable for them.NichollsNicholls

It is a nice small hotel. the atmosphere is good and quiet. the staff is kind. the rooms are not that big but original decorated. every room is named after a famous philosopher and has some citations on the wall and books about him or her on the shelf.Anonymous
