Hotel Hortus is 15 minutes walk from Central Station. We are close to Artis Zoo, Rembrandt Square and the famous Waterloo square Fleamarkets.
How to reach the Hotel Hortus?From central station
Take TRAM 9 and get out at the 7th stop. Once you get out cross the street and turn RIGHT and walk back in the direction you just came. At the first street turn LEFT this is our street, and we are number 8 on the left.
You can also take the metro(underground),from central station you can take any metro. You must get out at the 2nd stop (WATERLOO PLEIN/ NIEUWE HERENGRACHT). Once you exit the metro turn RIGHT and follow the sign NIEUWE HERENGRACHT. Once you have come to the top walk towards the exit and turn RIGHT walk along the road until you come to another street (There is also a small park there). Turn LEFT this is also our street, walk along until you come to nr.8 (it will now be on the right).

The staff were really really friendly from the minute we arrived. breakfast was served with a smile and fried eggs (sunny side up :d)!
we were a bit rushed on our leaving day, but the staff were really helpful and with their help, we managed to catch our flight on time.
Our double room was really more of a twin. two beds pushed together wasn't very comfortable.
the shower was horrible.WALKER

Staff member, brent, was friendly and very helpful with advice and directions. we cannot praise, and thank, him highly enough.the other member of staff we met was also very friendly.Rooms can be noisy due to stairs.HAVERLY

Cheap,comfortable, clean, good location with friendly and helpful staff. stayed for 3 nights as part of a stag do, excellent for us. freedom to come and go as we pleased, secure rooms with a safe and free flowing coffee in dining area. breakfast consisting of fried eggs, toast and jams was a nice little bonas which you would not normally expect from a hostel. we had a great time in amsterdam and the hotel was fab !hogg

It was a short walk to every where in the town which was great. the hotel itself was clean and comfortable. it was very authentic, kind of small but the hotels are all like this.kearsley
