Hotel Max Amsterdam offers clean and reasonably priced tourist accommodation in the centre of Amsterdam. The hotel is situated in the popular ‘de Pijp’ area, within walking distance of the Rembrandt Square, Dam Square and Leidse Square. Several places of interest can be easily reached on foot as well as by public transport and museums such as the famous Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House and others are close by.
All double rooms were recently redecorated, the bathrooms were renovated and the new breakfast room and lounge were finished in February 2007. All rooms in Hotel Max Amsterdam are small but cosy and non-smoking. Use of Wi-Fi internet connection is possible at a charge in the entire hotel. Max Hotel has a sports bar close to the hotel with live sports channels (Sky Sports, Setanta and sport 1). The hotel is situated in the popular ‘de Pijp’ area, within walking distance of the Rembrandt Square, Dam Square and Leidse Square. After a stroll over the famous Albert Cuijp market you’ll reach the Rijksmuseum and van Gogh Museum. These top attractions lie in the vicinity of the hotel, just as many theatres and the Royal Concertgebouw. All these places of interest can be easily reached by public transport as well.
Other places worth visiting like the Anne Frank House, Artis Zoo, the Maritime Museum, Madame Tussaud’s, Sex Museum, Rembrandt’s house, the Amsterdam Historical Museum and so on are all located within 30 minutes walking distance. For visitors of the RAI Convention Centre the location is pre-eminently suitable: you can reach it in 10 minutes.
How to reach the Hotel Max?1) From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).
2) From Amsterdam Central Station: Take tram 4 or 25 to the hotel. Exit the tram at tram stop “Stadhouderskade” or tram stop “Albert Cuyp Market”. Hotel Max lies within 150 meters of the tram stop. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

The only positive things we can say about this hotel is that we could park our motorbike on the pavement outside where we could keep an eye on it and the staff were nice and friendly.We chose the garden room because it had an en-suite and we didn't want to share a bathroom. what we could not have known was that it was a glorified shed at the back of the hotel. there was only the tiniest wardrobe, certainly not big enough to house the clothes of 2 people, there was a roof blind across the skylight but nothing to open it with so the room appeared dark unless you left the door open, the ceiling fan did not work, the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work and the bathroom smelt of sewage and on the morning that we left the toilet macerator broke and the toilet waste backed up into the shower tray. so if you choose hotel max because it is one of the cheaper hotels in amsterdam stay in the main hotel and share a bathroom! Small but fine room - no complaintsYou don't get a lot of value for money. we paid almost 200 euro for 2 nights and we got a small but clean room with private shower and a decent breakfast but that was it. not worth 100 euros a night. sound isolation is also lacking.Anonymous

The staff were very welcoimg when we arrivedThe room was really bad, very small, the walls were too thin so it was very noisy, the furnishings were poor.
the breakfast was poor too - a few cereals, thin bread which could be toasted and the only choice of spreads was marmalade, butter, or peanut butter. very poor value for moneyAnonymous

I was impressed that a good breakfast was included. i was delighted that there was a tv. very well designed. a lot of space in such a small area.I had made a second booking using my credit card for a friend and when my friend arrived, i was told that the room had been sold even though i had booked!Anonymous

Other reviews made the "hot deal" room sound horrible, but i was pleasantly surprised by it! yes the room is really only big enough for the bed (nice double bed though) and the sink/bathroom with very minimal floor space. this posed no problem to the enjoyment of our stay, however.The only thing negative was the location--while nice & quiet enough (the supermarket across the way is very convenient), it's about a half an hour to 45 minute walk to get to the city centre/red light district/fun stuff, which got old after a while. you could just not cheap out and take the metro/tram, which stop nearby however ;)Anonymous

Good location and staff were very friendly. Breakfast was tooooo basic, other apartment with the hotel is too far away and beds in rooms were awkward and kept sliding apart when pushed together (we did ask for a double)and rooms werent the nicest as a whole to be honest.Anonymous
