 "Good value, basic room"
Hotel was clean and quiet. Small room, but everything we needed. Bed small but comfy. Lovely outlook on to a street of trees. Confused a little at check in, had to check in at the hotel IRIS (dont confuse it with the nearby hotel IBIS). Overall a good budget room. I would stay here again.

 "Decent Location & Good Price"
Hotel Max was the cheapest deal I could find for a private double room near the centre of Amsterdam. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. After reading previous reviews I wasn't expecting much, but the room was clean and reasonably spacious for a small double. The only problem I had was that we got two twin beds instead f a double although I had stated that I wanted a double bed when booking an I could clearly see it on the booking form when checking in. Overall great location...only 20 mins walk from the centre or a 5 minute tram ride and good clean rooms prefect for getting your head down.

 "Terribly small"
Rooms very small. Also requested twin room and this wasn't provided and refund refused. Avoid. Spend a little more and get a decent hotel! I have learnt my lesson for being cheap!!One staff member very unhelpful and manager wouldn't speak to us over the phone. Poor service.

 "Fun"
We had quite a nice stay. Rooms are very small and simple but everythings there, including the choclate on the bed. Location is very good (Carré, Rembrantplein). We had a lot of fun. Breakfast buffet can compete with lots of other more expensive hotels. .'We will be sure to come back when we stay in Amsterdam again. Price/quality is good.

 "Nice location but Too dirty"
The location is nice, the rooms are really smaller but that's doesn't matter in Amsterdam you don't need to spend to much time in. The disappointing thing is the cleaness, by accident I moved te bed and I've found empty bottles, trash which means they never use vacuum cleaner. Better find something else!

 "Great Stay"
The directions on getting to hotel were great. We were running late and were past the check in time and the staff had no problem with it. The rooms were really clean and staff came to tidy up every day. the location was central city, but that was okay because it was close enough to walk or ride bikes. I liked being out of the city center because it wasn't as crazy. The continental breakfast was good and the internet connection was good too. All in all a great place to stay especially for the cost.

 "Good location, acceptable rooms."
We stayed there for 4 nights. Rooms are quite small, altough its common in Amsterdam and we also expected it. The first thing we noticed was the lack of cleaning. Its quite curious, because we saw the staff running up and down, even carrying a vacuum cleaner, still the room housed many shagpiles. We got breakfast in the price, its not american style as they write. Some jams, pindakas, butter, 1 kind cheese and a cold meat were all. At least it was enough, so we didnt have to rush in the morning.The staff are young people, who were friendly and helpful. Thats a big positive, also we got free wifi with the room. It came also very useful.In the "breakfast room" there was a microwave oven, which we could use to warm up some dish from the local supermarkets.The building itself is in a very good location. We could check almost the entire central on foot. Altough the hotel is acceptable overall, it could have been a little cheaper to recommend.

 "Excellent Hotel"
A short walk from tram station, close to city centre. Heaps of restaurants and shops around. Staffs are excellent. Nice breakfast provided. Will definitely go back again!

 "Hotel Max"
Good location close to river Amstel, and only a short walk to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh gallery, but as the helpful Police officer said when we were seeking directions "Why do you want to go THAT AREA????"Staff helpful, breakfast OK.Room was MINISCULE - the size of a double bed with about 45cm walkway down the side. No room for a chair or the tiniest table. For 2 people, it involved careful co- ordination to be able to move at all!Looks like a hotel from outside, rooms are more like a hostel.

 "Nice location but that's the only good thing"
Rooms were tiny and unclean. Curtains, bedding and bathroom were dirty and looked as though they had not been cleaned for some time. Rooms are far too small. Advertised as non smoking however cigarette ends litter the windows. No facilities offered. We have stayed in Amsterdam on many occasions over the years and this hotel does not match the standard of the others. Cleanliness of the rooms put us off going for breakfast. Room size would not have been such an issue if the place was clean and the bedding was fresh. The location was fantastic and surrounding area is lovely.

 "Nice location"
The rooms are quite small but clean, the staff were excellent. very good value for money. located in de pijp district this hotel is close to local amenities and about 15-20 minute walk to the central (but there is no better place to walk through than amsterdam)

 "Pleasant stay at Hotel Max, rooms small but shower was clean"
We stayed at the hotel Max when it was very warm in Amsterdam, this of course was lovely, but we found it hard to keep the room cool due to its size, however the shower was clean and the breakfast was your basic cereal and toast. The hotel is not far from the city centre by tram it takes 5 minutes, the Lidl across the road is useful and the Coffee shop ibiza is also very close. Its your typical cheap hotel in Amsterdam, dont believe the other reviews saying its ghastly, its just you get what you pay for and Amsterdam isnt the cheapest city to stay in.

Pros: Good location,near the hotel you can find the trams that can get you into leidseplein ,dam square etc .sufficient breakfast.reasonable price.
Cons: Small toilet.no slippers.rooms are not cleaned regularly.

Cons: Evven though the hotel was reasonably cheap, we had the option of a garden room, i reallly didnt expect it to be literally a shed in the garden!!! very disapointed, but i suppose you get what you pay for. we booked a double and got a twin, not the romantic night we had planned!!!
