The noise within the hotel was appauling - our first night there we did not sleep - for the other two days the noise was better but the walls were very thin and you could hear every extraction fan and every door slamming

Studio apartment was a fair price, lots of space, gas heater was nice, plenty of warm shower water.
When first checking in i had to wait two hours for the room to be ready.

Located in a very nice part of town, pleasant and clean stay/
Hotel charged us hidden costs upon arrival so it wasn't as cheap as advertised.

The hotel is located in a very charming area with lots of good restaurants, cafés and shops. the staff is very friendly and helpful. we stayed in one of the studios and it was clean and spacious.
The whole building (not the same as the hotel) smelled of sewage.

There was no refrigerator in the room in which to put my medication, which needs to be kept refrigerated. the staff put my medication in the kitchen fridge - which was very nice of them. the location was good, except that i didn't know that the "grape district" meant pot (the hotel is on the fringe of the "grape district", and i had 2 young teen boys with me who i wish had not learned about that in amsterdam. the breakfast was european - so to be expected. other than breakfast (which was included in the hotel price) we did not eat at the restaurant but the prices looked very reasonable. given the proximity to the train station (about a 10 minute walk), we stayed the second night rather than waste time trying to find something more suitable. we only slept there - spending the rest of the time exploring - so for travellers with older children who don't need to "rest" during the day, the hotel was fine.
We had to change rooms when we asked to stay a second night. they charged us the same price for a room with a bathroom as we did for a room without. they justified it by saying that different prices apply for different days - even though it was still a mid-week night. and, we had to climb to the 3rd floor to get to the next room, with all our luggage, up what was essentially a ladder! in the first room, there were smokers below our open window. one of my kids is asthmatic so that made it difficult to sleep. on the second night, on the third floor, it was very quite and there was a lovely fresh breeze. in all, the third floor, despite having to "climb up" to it, was more pleasant. the hotel did not have much in the way of recommendations for tours/things to do. the showers were not separated from the toilet so water flooded everywhere. the hotel, however, did give us extra towels, on the first night, so that we could mop it up, but there were no extra towels available on the second night.
