Hotel The Crown is located in the most dynamic and exciting part of Amsterdam, known as the Oude Zijds (Old Side). Day or night, there is always something to do in the hotel's direct vicinity. Also, the famous Red Light District is just around the corner.
In the hotel's surroundings there are more bars, restaurants, coffee shops and clubs than you can visit during one stay in Amsterdam. Just a few streets down there is the main shopping area of Amsterdam and two bridges and a few corners away you can find the main train station of Amsterdam. Amsterdam Central Station is only 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. From Amsterdam Central Station you can reach all of Amsterdam by bus, tram, metro or canalbus (boat).
How to reach the Hotel The Crown?1) From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).
2) From Amsterdam Central Station: You don't have to take the tram as you can walk to the hotel in approximately 5 minutes. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

1. location- sandwiched between chinatown and the red light district. 2. the room was clean, but the shared shower was not.
1. the website pictures of the rooms are nothing at all like the rooms in the hotel(false advertising). 2. my room was never cleaned during my stay and just getting a clean towel out of them was like pulling teeth! 3. the window cill in the shared bathroom probably hadn't been cleaned in years and the soap dispenser was empty. additionally, the toilet seat was held on my two pieces of loose wire. ...... bottom line; the place is a dump, but generally not unclean. it may represent fair to good value for the money in an otherwise quite expensive city. also bear in mind that there is no lift, and the stairs are very steep to say the least. that, coupled with the fact that there is no help on hand to do much of anything makes this place suitable for young singles/couples and certainly backpacker types. and oh yes, probably a great place to do drug deals, as it seemed to agree with some mexican gang members who were staying there at the time!STREET

Nice location, easy to find cheap satisfactry rooms. service good and helpful beer tasty and cheapest around.Only an observation man on night just a bit grumpy but we were reasonably drunk oops! so maybe not to grumpy? groves

Staff were very helpfull, and the hotel was well situatedRooms were too small we had twin rooms and triple rooms, the twin rooms did not have any on suite facilities you had to go on to the landing for showers and toilets. the triple rooms were very much the same but had did have a shower in the room, the toilet was on the landing, very basic hotel with little facilities. not worth the £100 euros per-person that we paid. it worked out at £50 euros a night. we would of been happier if the price was lower. to expensive for a basic hotelGibbons

Great hotel in the middle of the lively part of amsterdam, lots to see and do right outside of the hotel door. i would not however recommend this hotel for a man trying to romance a young lady etc, great for groups and travellers. nice bar and facilities.Anonymous

The location was excellent, the staff were really helpfull.Room wasnt cleaned for 3 days, was bitten by midgies whilst sleeping. couple of cobwebs and spiders on + around cieling and walls.Anonymous

Brilliant staff and enviroment... right in the thick of things... spent many nights on the front steps with a spliff and a beer watching guiness the cat catch mice in the street. brillant!The stairs are a killer... id try to get a room on the first floor.Anonymous
