"Great location for seeing the city"

Great hotel location just a few minutes walk from the train station, 5 minutes to Dam square and the red light district. Comfy beds and room was clean but basic (stayed in 2/3 star) no breakfast included but that's fine as we wanted to explore different places on offer and you can go to the joining cafe next door if you don't want to look for somewhere. It's card only so make sure you don't only have cash you can pay in euro or sterling. Friendly and helpful staff. Windows were a bit draughty but apart from that great stay

Thank you for good accomodation during my stay The hotel wass clean and allowed easy access to the area. We stayed under a special value deal which was really appreciated as it allowed more spending money !

"Quirky place to stay and very central."

Not so much a hotel more a building with rooms each with their own star rating. Each room has been designed by art students and entirely different. We had a 5 star room on the 7th floor which was both spacious and quiet and covered in hessian! Not so sure it would be quite so quiet on the lower floors. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom had good quality toiletries and bathrobes and always lots of instant hot water. Staff were able to book us advance tickets for various museums with no problem for the same day which is worth doing to avoid the queues. Recommended if you don't mind quirky rooms.

"Weekend break"

I wanted a place on Damrak, comfortable, quiet, good price and customer focussed rather than to make as much as they can. This place ticks all boxes. Was lucky enough to get the Marie Antoinette room. Fabulous. Warm, quiet, good wet room. Only downside was no chair so had to raise the corsetry to sit on the bed. Staff are excellent. No problem in leaving bags before checkin or after checkout. Food next door is really tasty but a little on the expensive side, but local Amsterdamers use it so must be good. I want to tell people how good this place is...but also want to keep it to myself!

"Quirky little place"

Ok so we read quite a few reviews before we went to this hotel, mostly mocking the size or the sound. If you are going to stay in this hotel then like us you have to appreciate it is a hotel designed by art students. It is so quirky and different, it is not about the size of the hotel as there are many bog standard large rooms available in other hotels. Its about making your stay special. The hotel is in a great location, literally a 5 minute walk from the train station, on a main stretch of shops, cafes, and restaraunts. Its a 10- 15 minute walk from all the main squares such as Rembrandt square. We preferred walking as you get to see the beautiful city and ts buildings on your way, but you can get a taxi just across the road from the hotel. The staff are very friendly, and if you need anything they are very happy to help. We stayed in a 3 star room and it was lovely. We couldn't hear no noise from outside except the church bell ringing in the morning. The bed was also so comfortable.Great Hotel. Great Location. Great Price.

"Superb location, modern rooms and a good night's sleep"

The Exchange was a fantastic hotel for our short break to Amsterdam. It's located conveniently on Damrak, the main street leading south from just outside Amsterdam Centraal Station- just above the Dana Kebab Factory. Don't let that put you off though, our room was double-glazed and fitted out with all new TV, new wet room with shower, toilet and towel rail and the most comfortable bed i've ever stayed in.There's 24/7 check in and the same company own the adjacent Stock! Cafe and Options! Trinket Store. I'd thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet, centrally-located break in Amsterdam and who are looking for real value for money.

"Excellent Accomodation"

Highly recommended to stay at this hotel. Do not be deceived by the size of the entrance, the place is just amazing. Unique in every way. Will definitely come back to stat at this hotel if we were to return to Amsterdam

"Great staff - excellent welcome"

Pros: Great staff - excellent welcome. unusual and memorable rooms - in a good way. very easy to find from the station.
Cons: Second night was noisy on the street with party goers and then street cleaning machines - first night however was not noisy - would not let it put me off. door handles hard to open - had to call for help!

Superb location, modern rooms and a good night's sleep

Stood proudly on Damrak, Hotel The Exchange Amsterdam is situated midway between Centraal Station – the main access point from Schiphol Airport to the city centre – and Dam Square. The Royal Palace, Bijenkorf, Madame Tussauds and Kalverstraat are all a short walk down Damrak from here, and the Red Light District is a five minute walk to the east of the hotel. Trams run along Damrak and also along nearby Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, connecting to Leidseplein, Museumplein and beyond.

A vibrant accommodation with a particular love of fashion, The Exchange Hotel has been developed in collaboration with AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute).
