Hotel Toro is just a few steps away from famous Vondelpark. All the large museums, including Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum can be reached on foot or by bike (ask about renting a bike from Hotel Toro!), as can the Concertgebouw, the Leidseplein - with its wide range of entertainment facilities - and the chicest shopping street in Amsterdam, PC Hooftstraat.
How to reach the Hotel Toro Hampshire Classic?*How do I get to the Hotel Toro A Hampshire Classic by public transport? :
1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 2 from the square in front of the station to the valeriusplein/koninginneweg. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 3 min. The trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

Hotel is based in a lovely area by a river and close to the vondelpark. nice terrace out the back looking over the park. very tranquil. would recommend to friends despite the negative aspects described below which will hopefully be addressed.
The advertised free wifi didn't work and when i asked about it the receptionist said they were working to fix it (sure!!!) and that i could use another connection for a mere €22.50 per day. this was a pathetic excuse imo. breakfast for €17 is a joke. i had also been assured when making the order that the additional bed in the room would be a real bed. when we got there it was a camp bed. why lie about this? also tv was quite smallAnonymous

Great staff, the people who worked the front desk all spoke wonderful english and were very willing to help with anything we needed.The negative thing for me was that it was a bit of a distance from the hustle and bustle. nothing nearby stayed open late. you have a walk a good while to get anywhere touristy. great if you want someplace quiet and relaxing though.Davidson

Really pretty hotel! very clean and friendly staff! a lovely walk/cycle through vondelpark to the centre! Expensive taxi ride from central station, so take tram 2 outside the station or get a taxi direct from the airport (35 euro). may need to hire a bicycle if staying more than a few days as the hotel is a fair distance from dam square, etc. but a lovely walk through the park!VanTil

What a delightful place to stay!! gracious, friendly and helpful staff, on a quiet street near the vondelpark, an easy walk to the tram. lovely sitting area on the main floor with access to a computer. we fell in love with hotel toro!We didn't opt for the breakfast...it seemed overpriced to us, so we just walked a few blocks to a lovely bakery and enjoyed local baked goods for breakfast!Anonymous

The hotel was very nice and the location was good for just relaxing after all day and night in the centrum. the tram is close by, as well as the park. i encountered about 3 different staff members and all were exceptionally nice. i will stay here again.Nothing to complain aboutAnonymous

The hotel toro hampshire classic has the most beautiful position beside the legendary vondel park; you can sit on the terrrace and watch the ducks swim by! it's a two minute walk from the main tram to central station (number 2) and you can jump on and off on the way, passing through the city sights. the hotel staff were very helpful and kind and changed our room to allow us a view of the park. they were so helpful and spoke excellent english; they even booked our return flights and printed boarding cards. we hired bicycles from the hotel and were able to enjoy amsterdam museums and sights without the hassle of finding a place to hire them from. the breakfast was not included but for twelve euro you received a great start to the day from the help yourself buffet; pancakes to fry ups. it compared favourably to buying breakfast in the city but the decor and location of the dining room is stunning and you get linen napkins, a chandelier and one of the best views ever. this is my fifth trip to the cosmopolitan city and i will definitely return to this hotel! humphrey polanen

Very peaceful and quiet area. the vondalpark is right beside the hotel. tram no. 2 leaves you at emmalaan which is 5 mins walk to the hotel. pleasant and helpful staff. hotel room had good facilites;mini bar, soap, shampoo etcThere is no bar, but the staff bring you what you want from the kitchen. breakfast is extra at €12 which is a bit expensive when you can get coffee and toast for €3 in a cafe. the hairdryer in bathroom isn't great. it's location is a bit outside the city centre so i would probably stay closer to the centre in future.Emma Robinson
