"Eventful nights"

Very new, clean, young hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Good breakfast with plenty of options of fruit, bread, jams, meats, cereal, fresh juices, coffee and tea. The rest of the day you can always get a free coffee or tea and warm up near the fireplace (necessary in the cold city of Amsterdam!). Location is perfect, walking disance of almost all touristic highlights but far enough from the nightlife to be quiet at night.However, we spent 2 very noisy nights there....The first night we were staying in the souterrain room, close to the storage room. We had a lot of noise from staff entering/leaving that room, slamming the door. Also the souterrain level has bathrooms being used by guests having drinks in the bar on the ground floor. In the middle of the night, one of those people had some medical problems which caused a lot of noise and the loud sound of an ambulance arriving and paramedics entering and leaving.We asked to switch rooms the next night which the hotel was friendly enough to give us, we were happy and relieved about this. Though that second night due to a robbery in one of the upstairs rooms there was also a lot of noise and we were called out of bed by policeman knocking on our door at 4 a.m. looking for the culprit.There wasn't any information or apology from the hotel for this. We understand that these events don't happen evvery night and the hotel will probably be more peaceful generally, but our stay wasn't as pleasant as we were hoping for based on reviews by other guests. I however would still recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Amsterdam for a few days. Even myself I'd want to try again, (but not the souterrain rooms)...

"Romance in Amsterdam"

"excellent friendly hotel in good location."

Staff were very relaxed and friendly. The hotel has a tram stop literally outside with trams to the centre and central train station. It's a 2 min walk from Utrechtsestraat - one of the best streets for eating out and some great coffee shops;, beg Quiver Koffie. Recommended!

"Great hotel, breakfast and wifi"

I stayed here with a friend in a twin room. I was allowed to check in a bit early and the lady behind the counter was really helpful - presenting me with a really useful map. The breakfast is really good to be included: whole fruit pieces, fruit salad, natural yoghurt, bread, cheeses, meats, cereals, boiled eggs etc, it set me up for the day well. I would happily return.The only thing I'd mention is that the twin room was more like being in a double bed with my friend - very snug! So unless you know your friend well

"Three night stay"

The staff were very friendly and helpful- breakfast was superb but the rooms were small even though we had two large doubles. I would not like to be in a small room at this hotel. There is no air con but there was a large fan. I did not like the fact that there was no facility to make tea or coffee in the room (there is no kettle), but there was always someone in reception to make whatever you required, whenever you wanted! And the staff were always VERY helpful and caring. To me the hotel is very dark - the reception area is lovely but it goes downhill as you walk to your room!

"Nice place but very noisy"

The hotel is very modern , designer kind of stuff , but it is by a very busy road with a LOT of traffic. The rooms are quite small . We had a large room , but it was far from being anything but small. No storage in the room, unless you count those 6 hangers in the alcove behind a curtain. Cleaning service not brilliant either, lots of dust on the floor and black curtains. Positives- friendly staff, good breakfast, hotel is not far from some nice restaurants; however, regretfully we won't be staying there time.

"good place to stay"

we felt this hotel was perfect for us. Loved the location right by the tram and walking distance to several places. Quiet at night. Beds were comfortable. Staff very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to others and would stay here again. It is not a fancy hotel but it fit our needs perfectly.

"Vacation"

Nice Hotel...rooms are quite small . Bathroom is small and mirror is placed too high unless you are over 6 feet tall. Lobby was really nice and breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed our stay and the location was good...nice and quiet.

"Great location not so great room"

The location of the hotel was great, next to Rembrantsquare and easy access to tram and metro. However the room wasn't very clean, we had to ask for shampoo every day and we found a spider next to our bed. Also there is no wardrobe, we had to pile our clothes on a small chair. For the money we paid i excpected more

"Hotel V Frederiksplein"

Very nice hotel but was pretty disappointed with the room size so much so we asked if we could be moved to something a big bigger which I have never had to do in the past. Very accommodating staff and did move us and the room was bigger than the first one. The first room did not have any space to put clothes etc and it didn't even have drawers to put even undergarments in. As we were there for a three full days I do like to put my clothes away and not live out of a suitcase. The room they moved us to did have some hanging space/shelve in the corner (looked like it was from Ikea) which we were able to put things on which made a big difference but again not the biggest room. Although I have to say the bed was one of the most comfiest bed I have ever slept in and the rooms were very clean. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel but maybe go for two single beds as you probably would have more space. I loved Amsterdam a wonderful city.

"Smallest Room ever"

Besides a good breakfast and nice staff is the smallest room i ever seen, no space for bags or even a small wardrobe to put your clothes, and a very dangerous staircase (no lift).

"Great location to explore Amsterdam"

My husband and I have a 7 month old baby and decided to spend Easter break in Amsterdam. Even though we were planning the trip a few months ahead, hotel V was one of the few hotels available on that particular weekend. The location is great and the staff is amazingly helpful and friendly! To be honest, the hotel is not really designed for babies: very tiny elevator, a few steps to enter the main lobby (we had a pram) and no bath tub. The room was rather small and not a very good mattress, but overall, the staff and the location made our visit very enjoyable and pleasant. I think it's a better place when you go there without kids. The lobby is very hip and very relaxing. I would definitely come back though.

"Great base and great service"

Second time staying at Hotel V and would recommend to those in need of a base while in Amsterdam. Excellent cleanliness and the staff are always there to help.Small rooms and bathrooms but have wonderful decor.We stayed on the lower ground and it did get quite noisy during the night, especially when events were being held in the bar above.This would be the only qualm - nothing some ear plugs can't solve! Good breakfst selection, with fresh food throughout service. Tram stops directly outside with connections to the airport and just ten minute walk to the main shopping street.Will definitely stay here again.
