The Hotel is in the museum district of Amsterdam so that is a plus to give the Van Gogh. If you are traveling with your partner/wife/husband it is not the place to go. The reason being is they don't have full/queen beds. So one of us would fall down the crack between the beds every night. I complained and they said there is nothing they could do about it, "Put a sheet over the crack, you won't fall through." They also don't have irons or shampoo. If you are paying $750 dollars to stay there for a weekend you better get some decent service. This place is a no go, I would have got better service at a youth hostel.

"Quiet room, good value for money even though the cleanliness could be a bit better"
The hotel was really good value for money. Unfortunately, there were hair on the bed and we couldn't figure out whether the bed sheet and towels were fresh or not. Nevertheless, would recommend the hotel because it wasn't too expensive, very quiet and nice staff.

"The room was of good size and newly refurbished hence very clean"
Pros: The room was of good size and newly refurbished hence very clean.quality of breakfast overall very good for 5 euros.position of the hotel excellent and very easy to reach by public transpoet from the central station
Cons: There was only one seat in the room despite there being ample room for a settee or at least another comfortable chair.there was also no regrigerator which you would have expected for the price paid for the room.however the most disturbing factor was that the heating was not working and from early evening until the early hours of the morning there was excessive noise from the rooms above.apparntly part of the hotel has hostel type facilities
"Despite arriving on the hotel's first day of opening, the hotel staff..."
Pros: Despite arriving on the hotel's first day of opening, the hotel staff (especially jay at the front desk) did their best to accommodate all our needs. the room was lovely and well furnished - a very comfortable bed and a well sized shower. breakfast was excellent value - plenty of food and good variety. the location is fabulous - directly opposite the van gogh museum, stedelijk and rijksmuseum, and minutes from the concertgebouw, hooftstraat shopping street and public transport links. despite building work continuing on the upper floors of the hotel, everything was kept clean and tidy, and the housekeeping staff (especially ragnel in the breakfast room) did an excellent job.
Cons: The hotel seems to share facilities with a youth hostel which meant many noisy students in the lobby and breakfast area at any stage, but this was a minor irritation.
