An Amsterdam hotel, in an excellent central location in the delightful Jordaan district, close to Dam Square.

Situated in the fascinating Jordaan area, Hotel van Onna Amsterdam is close to all the city centre attractions whilst also enjoying the blissful tranquility of a canalside location. The nearest attractions are Anne Frank House, Westerkerk and Amsterdam Tulip Museum, all a 5-minute walk away. The Jordaan is a different world from the stampeding tourists and chain stores of Kalverstraat, and is a well-preserved example of a traditional Dutch neighbourhood. Convenient tram transportation is available 5 minutes on foot away, and Dam Square and Royal Palace are a 10-minute walk to the east.

Three beautiful canal houses comprise van Onna Hotel. The more modern central structure holds the main entrance of the hotel and is flanked by a traditional canal house from the mid-17th century and a renovated old warehouse. The original beams are visible in the breakfast room. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Hotel van Onna Amsterdam has a total of 41 rooms, each with en-suite bathroom facilities. Decor is charmingly simple, warm and functional, avoiding ostentation in true Dutch style. Also true to Dutch form, the rooms are spotlessly clean and neatly arranged. All rooms at the front of the building enjoy a beautiful canal view, whilst all rooms on the rear side enjoy extra tranquility away from the street.

 "Good location and price"
This was our first time in Amsterdam.
The hotel location is very good, close to Ann Frank museum. The building we were located in was the old one so the stairs were probably close to the year of building the house, just like in an 1466 or close, very narrow and small, a bit unpleasant to go up and down.(I got used to it so this fact did not bother me for the next 6 days.)The hotel has another building with larger stairs.
The fact that it was a very old building added charm to it.
When I booked the hotel, I asked for a room with the view of the canal and on an upper level and this was what I got.
Good value for the money.(No WiFi other than in the reception room)

 "Authentic Amsterdam"
I stayed in the Annex, 2nd floor room. This Annex is a converted (?) 17c house facing a canal. Room was small and basic, comfortable and clean. Very tight staircase to rooms so you need to be fit and able if you stay in the Annex. Great location and value for money with first class staff.

 "Good location, but really basic"
A quite nice hotel, bur really basic. The best thing was the location directly at the water (Gracht) which is beautiful and quite central in a nice neighbourhood (close to Anne Frank Huis). But the room was poor and the walls thin, the breakfast quite nice. All in all alright, but only if you don't want to spend any additional time in the room expect of the nights.

 "mixed feelings..."
Great location, clean, friendly, helpful staff, basic breakfast. The owners, however, don't put a penny into the hotel's upkeep, which is unfortunate because it could use a paint job, new floor coverings, more storage, shelving, etc. What made Hotel van Onna worthwhile beside its location was our canal-view room and lower than average cost.

 "Okay hotel, but nothing special"
The location is excellent, but the hotel is missing that "little extra" (like hooks in the bathroom and small towels for hands and feet) which gives it more of a hostal feeling. The breakfast could also easily have been better, if a yoghurt, a toaster or some vegetables were included.

 "very nice and quiete hotel"
The People i met there were allways helpful and very nice. The breakfast was the same every day, but a lot of. My room in the depandance was very large but looked a bit of waiting for small renovation. But for 3 days this is all o.k. to me. Amsterdam and the staying in this hotel was a lovely time. I would come again.

 "Bathroom and breakfast"
Nice room. Clean. Friendly staff.

Very small bathroom. Bathroom floor gets very slippery when wet and it does get wet as there is no door for the shower. There is also no place to put your soap or shampoo.
Breakfast the uninteresting and the same every day.
Good location.

 "Great location"
Jaarden neighborhood is really nice with loads of interesting shops and food and restaurants, we would go again! The breakfast worked for us and the accomodations were very basic, we enjoyed our stay, not a fancy place ! Part of the adventure!

 "nice simple hotel good location."
This is as basic as a hotel can be, if you are looking for one like this, and the price is right, this is the one. Was a bit disappointed with the shower in my room, room size is good, for what i paid I rated acceptable!
