 "A few thoughts"
The breakfasts have always been very good over the many times I stayed at this hotel but the new owners changed a few things regarding the breakfast such as the ham, cheese and coffee all of which were inferior. Cost-cutting such as this will be noticed by customers who frequented the hotel in the past. The new management could also be a little more courteous to its customers.

"No frills, but clean and comfortable"
A one star hotel, so don't expect fancy décor and a swimming pool. Very central for the sights, good hot showers, comfortable beds, room servicing every day and, most importantly, everything is clean!

 "Nice place, god location"
Nice location, very close to Anne Franks house.
The neighborhood is pleasant with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
Clean rooms and very pleasant staff.
Good breakfast,
I wonder why it only have 1 star???

"Pretty good for one star hotel"
I didn't even expect Van Onna to be that good. The only minus: if you're a light sleeper, like me, the Westerkerk two blocks away will keep you up all night, as its bells play a tune every 15 minutes!

 "good value"
A really great location in the old part of town right on one of the canals close to eateries and a number of venues. Also close to trams that take you to most parts of the city. Lovely continental breakfast. Rooms are basic but meet all needs

 "Good location."
Located in a nice part of the city Jordan region and close to most attractions ie Anne Frank, Red Light district and not to far to walk to the art museums, only 20 minutes or so. Room was a bit small but you kind of expect that in a built up city like Amsterdam. Room could have done with a few shelves or something, especially in the bathroom as there was nowhere to hang anything so we had to place everything on the floor.

 "Big disappointment"
Owner forgot to let us know about the major construction going on in front of the hotel. Work started 6:30 AM. Also our bed was squeaking really loud every time someone moved so we barely got any sleep

 ":("
It is a charming hotel but...
The mattress was bigger than the base.
The shower was in the 19th century.
It just had a towel per person.
And continental breakfast? Really?
It doesn´t have a good value for money :(

 "....."
Hotel room was very small, not suitable for two persons. Breakfast and the location was ok. There are a lot of stairs and no elevator in the hotel. One has to pay 5% extra if room is paid by credit card.

"the week end was so hot..."
We stayed at van onna in july, the temperature in the rooms was unbearable, no clim, the window opening was close, hard to sleep...
Meanwhile, the hostel is good located and clean. The breakfast was good.

 "Hotel Review"
This is good basic hotel in the heart of Amsterdam
All the amenities a visitor requires are immediately to hand
The integrated transport system enjoyed by the Dutch is a
pleasure to visitors
And the attractions are world class

 "Hotel van Onna"
Even though the hotel offers wifi, there is no internet connection and is therefore pointless.
I also had to pay a EUR20 deposit for the safe key, but they couldn't make arrangements to refund the deposit by our departure at 06h00 the following morning.

 "3 nights in Amsterdam"
Front desk staff was courteous and helpful with directions for getting around town. Very good location. We walked to many of the sights we were interested in.
Poor form to insist on a number of characters.

 "3 nights at hotel"
Prompt check in but very small room though it overlooked the canal. Breakfast was adaquate. Got stung with a 5% supplement for using my VISA Debit card. The sign said 5% extra for Credit cards but the lady said it applied to all card transactions. Can't remember that in the fine print.

 "My comment"
This is a pretty hotel with a good quality/price ratio. Excellent breakfast. The hotel has a good strategic position in the city.A weak point is the non-presence of tv in the rooms. Bathrooms are not so confortable.

 "Clean, Comfortable and affordable!"
Although there arent many frills at HOtel Van Onna it is quite a pleasant place to stay in Amsterdam in the Jordaan area. Close to the city centre and also with lots of restaurants and cafe's close by. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The owners are quite nice and helpful as well when we asked where restaurants and coffee shops were. Would recommend to someone or a couple who arent fussed about frills and want something affordable (hard to come by in Amsterdam), clean and comfortable.

No frills, but clean and comfortable

Situated in the fascinating Jordaan area, Hotel van Onna Amsterdam is close to all the city centre attractions whilst also enjoying the blissful tranquility of a canalside location. The nearest attractions are Anne Frank House, Westerkerk and Amsterdam Tulip Museum, all a 5-minute walk away. The Jordaan is a different world from the stampeding tourists and chain stores of Kalverstraat, and is a well-preserved example of a traditional Dutch neighbourhood. Convenient tram transportation is available 5 minutes on foot away, and Dam Square and Royal Palace are a 10-minute walk to the east.

Three beautiful canal houses comprise van Onna Hotel. The more modern central structure holds the main entrance of the hotel and is flanked by a traditional canal house from the mid-17th century and a renovated old warehouse. The original beams are visible in the breakfast room. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Hotel van Onna Amsterdam has a total of 41 rooms, each with en-suite bathroom facilities. Decor is charmingly simple, warm and functional, avoiding ostentation in true Dutch style. Also true to Dutch form, the rooms are spotlessly clean and neatly arranged. All rooms at the front of the building enjoy a beautiful canal view, whilst all rooms on the rear side enjoy extra tranquility away from the street.
