All the amenities a visitor requires are immediately to hand
The integrated transport system enjoyed by the Dutch is a

 "Hotel van Onna"
Even though the hotel offers wifi, there is no internet connection and is therefore pointless.
I also had to pay a EUR20 deposit for the safe key, but they couldn't make arrangements to refund the deposit by our departure at 06h00 the following morning.

 "3 nights in Amsterdam"
Front desk staff was courteous and helpful with directions for getting around town. Very good location. We walked to many of the sights we were interested in.
Poor form to insist on a number of characters.

 "3 nights at hotel"
Prompt check in but very small room though it overlooked the canal. Breakfast was adaquate. Got stung with a 5% supplement for using my VISA Debit card. The sign said 5% extra for Credit cards but the lady said it applied to all card transactions. Can't remember that in the fine print.

 "My comment"
This is a pretty hotel with a good quality/price ratio. Excellent breakfast. The hotel has a good strategic position in the city.A weak point is the non-presence of tv in the rooms. Bathrooms are not so confortable.

 "Clean, Comfortable and affordable!"
Although there arent many frills at HOtel Van Onna it is quite a pleasant place to stay in Amsterdam in the Jordaan area. Close to the city centre and also with lots of restaurants and cafe's close by. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The owners are quite nice and helpful as well when we asked where restaurants and coffee shops were. Would recommend to someone or a couple who arent fussed about frills and want something affordable (hard to come by in Amsterdam), clean and comfortable.

 "Good experience!"
Room small (without TV) but very clean and with private bathroom. Excellent continental breakfast. Staff kind and very helpful. The hotel it's near many pubs and restaurants and above all near to tram/bus stops.

 "Not more than necessary"
This hotel is well placed, just a few footsteps from Ann Frank's House and the midtown. It's very clean and the breakfast is generous. But the rooms are really empty, there's some noise between rooms and the hotel is a bit expensive for the services. There could be more stuffs, like TV, soaps, a better window or bed ...

"Great location but for the bells!"
Pluses - The room was fine, basic but clean, the location is excellent but for the bells of the Westerkerk which chime all night long!! We needed somewhere for one night near the centre and this fitted the bill. Minuses - I was slightly irritated by the 5% credit card charge and breakfast was nothing special, but at least was included in the price.

 "Great location!"
The hotel is simple but clean. The location is wonderful, close to everything and in the nice area of Jordaan. Price is fair compared to other hotels, breakfast bit boring!Reception is not very helpful but polite.

 "9/10 would go again"
Location was exactly right, it was a mere 10 minute walk away from Dam square. Service was very good, extremely clean, rooms war not exactly very big, but they sufficed and sleep quality was excellent.

 "Basic but adequate"
I booked this hotel because I wanted somewhere to sleep and that place had to be cheap, clean, secure and safe. The hotel was all of these. It would have been appropriate to have tea/coffee in the rooms. There were no machines.I would stay here again.

"Another nice time at the Van Onna"
This was our third time at this clean, family-run hotel. It is very close to church whose bells ring very loudly. In the past, this had not been a problem, but this time it was very loud as we were in a front room. But on the upside, the room had a nice canal view and picked up on the reception WIFI. Nice breakfast included, great coffee.

"Clean, friendly, helpful, fab location, good shower"
So pleased to have stayed here. A stone's throw from Anne Franks house. Clean linen and towel. Room serviced every day. A solid breakfast included, nothing gourmet but enough to keep you going till lunch. Basic but good. Comfy bed, nice shower. The proximity to Westerkirk meant we could hear the bells which was annoying at night but the location was perfect and so worth this quite charming, if annoying noise!

 "Good service, clean, basic"
Staff were friendly, breakfast was plentiful and coffee was good. Room was very clean and room service was reliable. Carpets in hallway were scruffy, which gave a poor impression. We asked for a canal view and staff arranged this before our arrival. Stairs are steep in traditional houses, and rooms are over 4 floors. Would recommend this budget hotel.

 "Great location"
This hotel is situated in a lovely central part of town on a quiet canal. In an interesting old neighborhood. The accommodation is very basic, the beds were comfortable. And shower had good pressure. This but proved to be an excellent base. There is a bike rental. Just down the road called BIke City which provided us with bikes

Hotel Review

Situated in the fascinating Jordaan area, Hotel van Onna Amsterdam is close to all the city centre attractions whilst also enjoying the blissful tranquility of a canalside location. The nearest attractions are Anne Frank House, Westerkerk and Amsterdam Tulip Museum, all a 5-minute walk away. The Jordaan is a different world from the stampeding tourists and chain stores of Kalverstraat, and is a well-preserved example of a traditional Dutch neighbourhood. Convenient tram transportation is available 5 minutes on foot away, and Dam Square and Royal Palace are a 10-minute walk to the east.

Three beautiful canal houses comprise van Onna Hotel. The more modern central structure holds the main entrance of the hotel and is flanked by a traditional canal house from the mid-17th century and a renovated old warehouse. The original beams are visible in the breakfast room. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Hotel van Onna Amsterdam has a total of 41 rooms, each with en-suite bathroom facilities. Decor is charmingly simple, warm and functional, avoiding ostentation in true Dutch style. Also true to Dutch form, the rooms are spotlessly clean and neatly arranged. All rooms at the front of the building enjoy a beautiful canal view, whilst all rooms on the rear side enjoy extra tranquility away from the street.
