The famous Leidseplein with its lively restaurants, bars, cafés and theatres is in the immediate vicinity.
How to reach the hotel?2) From Amsterdam Central Station: You can take tram 1, 2 or 5 from the square in front of the station to 'Leidseplein'. From there you can walk to the hotel in approximately 5 minutes. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM. The costs are around 2.60 Euro per person and you can buy tickets at the conductor in the back of the tram. On the Leidseplein you see two big hotels, the 'Marriott' and the 'NH Amsterdam Centre Hotel’ in between you'll find the Vondelstraat.
By taxi: From the airport you can take a taxi to the hotel. You will find a taxi stand in front of the arrival hall. The costs are approximately 45 Euros and you will be in Hotel Vondel within 20 minutes. You can also contact the hotel, they can arrange a business taxi for Euro 35.00 one way, this is a fixed price and the driver will pick you up in the arrival hall. From Amsterdam Central Station you can also take a taxi to the hotel and the costs are approximately 15 Euros.
By car: From A2 Utrecht: Coming from the A2, turn right at the first set of traffic-lights after the 'Utrechtsebrug' and follow the 'Amsteldijk' along the 'Amstel Canal'. Drive until you get to the T-crossing. Here you turn left the 'Stadhouderskade'. Pass three bridges. Turn left just before the 'Leidseplein', this is the 'Tesselschadestraat'. Directly on your left is the 'Byzantium Garage' where you can park your car. After the bend (right-hand side), you'll see Hotel Vondel Amsterdam Centre in the Vondelstraat 28.
From A4 Schiphol Airport/The Hague or Haarlem: Coming from the A4 (E10) or from the N5, you take the S-106 exit in Amsterdam. At the end of the exit, turn right. Continue straight on the roundabout 'Surinameplein'. You now pass the bridge and take a left turn and you are on the 'Overtoom'. The hotel is ideal if you want to be in the vondelpark area-but not on the main rd so nice & quiet-no pics of bathroom which i was worried about but there was no need-its lovely with an amazing shower-they should have some pics!!! bed was so comfy, had a great night sleep! oh & hotel was spotless!!

Lovely designery, boutique, hotel virtually on the vondelpark so easy to walk into amsterdam centre or have breakfast in the park. largish rooms, pleasant bar/coffee lounge. for the price felt very plush!Like many hotels it seemed very hot in the room even with windows open. being english we wanted a bath! and that filled really really slowly and then only to a couple of inches, and the reconstituted stone designer sink was so designer you couldn't use a plug and the tap was positioned such that it didn't clean away your toothpaste split! (but it did look great!) these are minor niggles in a great hotel.Anonymous

The room that the hotel vondel supplied us with was the worst we had seen in 17 days and after 5 hotels later. they moved us to their sister hotel roemer bc the room was so bad at the vondel. apparently they must have given us the worst room they had. for the money that we paid, it was a disgrace. thank god they moved us, bc the roemer hotel was great and very close. I took my mum to amsterdam to see madonna at the amsterdam arena. we stayed at the hotel vondel for two nights, and we were delighted with our room. we stayed in an executive room which was spacious and comfortable. the room had lovely high ceilings, large windows, and french doors leading out on to a small balcony. we'd requsted a twin room, but instead had one massive bed, as mother and daughter, we were happy to share, and it was huge so we had plenty of space. the room had lots of quirky features, plus a large luxurious bathroom.
the hotel was in a great location and in walking distance of most sights and attractions.
if you're going to amsterdam arena it costs approx 30 euros one way to/from the hotel.My only small complaint is that it was quite noisy in the mornings. the hotel is on a nice quiet side street, but you could hear vans making deliveries in the mornings. also the housekeeping staff were fairly noisy. i'd suggest putting your do not disturb sign on your door because between housekeeping, and staff to restock your mini bar, you can have a few interruptions in the morning.Mrs. Sweeney

Having been unlucky enough to have had our flight cancelled,we did have to still pay for the room but the hotel were able to offer us a an extra night at slightly higher rate.when we then checked in were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to a suite also receptionist was very enthusiastic and welcoming. We had a wonderful time! all the staff are so friendly and can't do enough to help you. brilliant location in the museum sector and had an unexpected but very welcomed upgrade on arrival. The cost of the food and drink was slightly unexpected. breakfast was 19 euros per person and two gin and tonics from the bar came to an eye watering 21 euros! if the prices of food and drink were cheaper, more people would be inclined to use the rather beautiful facilities.Anonymous

Very friendly and helpful staff. the hotel ungraded our rooms, which were quite spacious and well laid out. location excellent, approx about 3 mins walk from main night live area. overall very happy and would recommend this hotel to friends.Andrew Kidd

The staff restaurant was fantastic i m very pleased from her. i ordered the bath wich i had so good.the food was excellentWe ordered a double room not the small but the double and we had the small room too small i think. the staff at the reception is just not smily not professionel not friendly at all very disapointed and i m manager of one hotel in england so i know what i m speaking Anonymous

A very enjoyable stay at the vondel. staff excellent, so friendly and helpful. nothing too much trouble. rooms very clean and comfortable. recently refurbished and very large bathrooms. hotel in a quiet up market area of amsterdam and central to all museums etc.
