The Young & Trendy neighbourhood called the Pijp is only 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel, here it is possible to visit the picturesque Albert Cuypmarket and the Heineken museum (The Heineken Experience).
The city centre (Leidseplein) which is the centre nightlife of Amsterdam is within 12 minutes walking distance, and you will find here the jazz bars, pubs and restaurants, the famous Leidsestraat where the shopping area begins and keeps on going till the Central Station. Other suggestions for an evening out are the Holland casino and the Comedy Club.
How to reach the Hotel Washington?2) From Amsterdam Central Station: Take city tram no. 16 or 24 from the square outside (upon exiting Central Station the trams are located on your left side), and get off at tram stop “Ruysdealstraat”. Walk along the curb in the direction the tram was travelling for about 150 meters. The first road on the left is the “Frans van Mierisstraat” – Hotel Washington at number 10 can be seen from the corner.
3) From Amsterdam Central Station: Take city tram no. 5 from the square outside (upon exiting Central Station the trams are located on your right side), direction Amstelveen and get off at Concertgebouw / Museumplein. Continue walking on Van Baerlestraat in the same direction the tram was traveling, after 3 blocks turn left to Frans van Mierisstraat. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

Hotel washington was in an excellent location, right around the corner from the museum square and a very short distance from trams/buses to/from train station and airport. the staff was extremely kind and provided maps and info about the sites, places to eat, and how to get around by foot or public transport. the rooms were very clean and breakfast was lovely. I thought it was great. it is about a 20 min. streetcar ride to the train station, but walking distance to the van gough museum, etc. nice neighborhood. very clean, staff helpful.Stairs are really difficult. it's still a two star, don't expect 4 star. Anonymous

The staff was extremely helpful. with such narrow stairs, they carried my luggage for me! after i had gone to a restaurant to get dinner and then had a change in plans they had no problem storing my leftovers in their fridge so i was able to have them for lunch for the following day. the breakfast was great for the value. they even were able to make eggs for you in the morning! the included meal was a huge time and money saver as things can be expensive in amsterdam. It was obvious that the bathrooms were not being cleaned during the guests stays. Lee

Very helpful staff. breakfast was excellent. location was great - out of the hussle and bustle but able to walk into the city centre. rooms were large and clean. The trams are noisy but we did have our window open and they do stop running late in the eveningHunter

I have realy enjoyed my stay at hootel wasington, the staff is super friendly and made our stay enjoyable. the staff also helped us out on how to get to different attractions in and around amsterdam we got was very clean and well presented. the staff even got our transport from hotel wasington to the airport sorted so we had no worries about sorting that out. i would recommend this hotel for any one wanting to stay in a qiet, friendly and beautiful neighbourhood. thanks for being so welcoming and friendly hotel wasington staff.There is negative point to this hotel.Anonymous

Hotel washington was just as described in the easytobook website: close proximity to the art museums, located in a quiet area, excellent value for money. i had only one night to stay in amsterdam with a lot to see in one evening and a day, and the hotel location made it easy to come and go.Anonymous

Staff were very helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive. the room was cleaned every day. quiet location but near galleries and trams, easy to get to by bus from airport. The room was small, the bed was small but served the purpose. there are a lot of stairs and no lift.Morrissey

First impressions stick and the hotel was great. beautifully refirbished house, lovely spacious rooms and all nice and clean. my husband and i stayed in one room, and my in-laws in another, so it allowed us to have a nice family weekend away. large range of breakfast choices. and very friendly and attentive staff. we all really enjoyed our stay. Unfortuantely the people before us had smoked in the room, so it smelt of cigarette smoke for the first day. Anonymous
