The staff were very helpful friendly, room pretty good with a balcony. Nearby is Cafe Loetje a must visit especially known for it's bloody steaks in rich gravy. walking distance from the art museums and close to trams to get elswhere in the Dam. For some, the drawback is no elevators. A reasonable continental breakfast provided with free WiFi available in the lobby and dining area.

Enjoyed a quiet night's sleep. Breakfast was buffet style but when we asked for more eggs, they offered a choice of alternatives to the boiled eggs that had been on the table. The hotel allowed us to leave our luggage prior to checking in, in the dining room/reception

Cons: My room there was the smell of somebody had smoked , i didn't liked that.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was fantastic. it was a very quiet hotel in a good location (near the museums and out of the noisy centre of town).
Cons: There was an electric kettle in the room, but no way to make tea or coffee in the room. it would have been nice to have these facilities, and maybe a small fridge in the room. if there was a fire in the hotel, i could not find any fire escape/emergency exits etc. it would be disastrous in a fire emergency!

Pros: The rooms were very clean, in a really nice part of town close to museums and good restaurants and within easy access to several of the tram services!
Cons: The only negative (and really it isn't one at all) is that we got fresh towels every day and we felt that it wasn't entirely necessary - but it was nice all the same!

Pros: Manager ho - was friendly and helpful. he gave us ideas about what to do in the city and let us store our backbacks after checkout time. his bicycle rentals are also affordable.

Pros: I was expecting less i terms of quality of hotels and service after reading several negative reviews of all available hotels in general for amsterdam but my experience of hotel washington in no way reflected any of the negative experiences that others held - my bag was brought up for me (without request) up those steep stairs, my room was clean and quiet and the breakfast was varied and balanced - a pleasant and positive experience and brilliant location to brilliant location in amsterdam.
Cons: Only that i wasn't able to stay in the one spot longer due to unavailabilty of rooms.

Cons: There's no lift and we were 4 floors up, 72 steps, quite steep aswell, after a few beers it's hard work
