When we arrived at the hotel at 10 In the morning we were told that our room wouldn't be ready till 3, we went out and went back at 3 and it still wasn't ready- not a good start. After ten minutes the staff asked if we wanted a smoking or none smoking room and we opted for the smoking being smokers. The room was clean but it was extremely dated and ugly. It had a tv but it was old and the picture flicked all the time. How this hotel is rated at a 4 star is beyond me, I have stayed in better 2 stars in dam. We spent 380 euros for 3 nights and I feel as if I've been ripped of by the hotel.However we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel because dam is the most amazing city with lots too do- go Amsterdam but don't use this hotel.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful - and the hotel was welll located and comfortable.An otherwise good two night stay was marred by our breakfast experience on the second morning . For some reason the staff's attention was focussed on preparing tables for lunch service - even though at 09:00 there was still 90 minutes breakfast service remaining. Patrons were directed to the far corners of the dining area - where there was a limited number of two / four place settings. As two place tables were vacated they were not cleared, leaving potential breakfasters with the choice of clearing their own tables and using other cutlery or sitting at tables set for eight. The first morning's breakfast was perfectly satisfactory - so I assume this was a management failure. Annoying - but not enough to deter a further stay.

Great location next to the flower market and Rembrandt square. Tram just outside the front of the hotel to get you anywere in Amsterdam. Very spacy room. Beds very good but some noise from the street even on the 7th. floor.
