 "no transparency on room rates"
average hotel compared to the price range displayed 2 KM from the central stationI booked a room at a non-refundable priced. But got there they made me pay a higher priceI do not recommend it, especially in envitons can have good quality hotels with affordable prices

 "Long weekend"
I was in room no 3/18.It was adaquate for my purposes although on the small side because I spent most of the time outwith the hotel and used it only for sleeping in.I found it difficult to access the safe which was on the floor within the wardrobe, tight up against the window wall.A small fridge would have been handy. The hotel is more suited to young people because the entrance staircase is very steep and difficult to carry a heavy suitcase up or down. The front entrance door gives the impression of a seedy place, which it is not but could do with a lick of paint .Overall the place suited me and the price was ok and the location next to a lively square and access to trams.

 "Great Stay"
This hotel is great value for money, we have stayed here 5 times in total, location is good for getting around, staff are always very helpful, rooms are clean. If you want luxury you will need to pay and go somewhere else, it's homely!

 "Amsterdammed"
Prior to booking the hotel the photographs showed what looked to be nice clean spacious rooms, when we arrived we stayed in a small pokey room which tapered at the end so it was more of a dairy lea triangle shape than a 'room shape'.We were provided with a double bed which was great however the sheets and quilt were much smaller than the bed so we ended up having to use two single quilts as if they were 'one'. The receptionist was helpful and polite although she could only provide more of the same covers. and sadly not a double to fit the whole bed.The 'canal side' views were available however we got scaffolding and portaloo's outside our window which definitly took away the romance a little! We travel to Holland regularly to visit family, sadly we will not be using the 'Kings Hotel' again. The visit cost £255 euros for two nights which I felt was a little too expensive for what we got for our money.

 "King ? What king?"
I cant say I was satisfied.Location wise it was well placed. The service on the other hand was not the best a hotel could offer. the rooms where clean, but smaller than shown. No breakfast was present.

"Dreadful hotel if it was in fact a hotel"
This was not like a hotel at all. There were xtremely steep and extremely narrow stairs to be climbed with our luggage when we got inside the narrow entrance door. Hauling up luggage was very tricky because the steps were so narrow but it was nothing to coming down.It was actually dangerous trying to get down safely without luggage not to mind when carrying a suitcase. I had not been e mailed to tell me that there would be renovations going on . We were informed of this by a casually dressed employee when we checked in. The kango hammer was going from 7am. The noise of the drilling was terrible. The breakfast room was laughable. It was a tiny room where you could have bread/toast and processed meat/cheese and maybe a hard boiled egg with tea or coffee. This was the worst value accommodation we have stayed in since we started travelling 5 years ago and booking with Easy to book with whom we have always got great hotels for the same price we paid for King Hotel. The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly to make things worse

 "King Hotel"
Very bad hotel. You can't call this a Hotel. No breakfast. And a discusting stairs you have to climb before you can enter the reception. Every day other people who work there and they don't even speak Dutch. Next door is a very nice hotel. They also told us that King Hotel is known there as very bad. And the most bad is that you pay a lot of money. You have to pay immediately! Really very negative. We will never go again!

 "DIY SOS"
Staff were friendly, but hotel was being renovated and the builders started hammering and sanding at 8am on two consecutive mornings despite being assured that they wouldn't be starting early. They didn't seem to be making much progress given the amount of noise they were creating either! A member of staff apologised profusely but you know how it is when you've lost some sleep...The room was small but clean as was the bathroom, the bedding was changed every day and the beds - to be fair - were extremely comfortable.

 "A well run friendly hotel"
Generally a well run hotel, small and a bit too cosy in parts. The hotel was undergoing renovation on the exterior so could not make use of the lovely views of the canal as it was shrouded. Breakfast would have benefited from fresh fruit rather than the tinned variety that was on offer, otherwise very good. Some guests were extremely noisy after midnight and the early hours so had a disturbed first night...no one to complain to and it seemed that the fire doors were being slammed.

This was a grand hotel for the money. Room was small and with no AC was extremely hot. We enjoyed our stay and the location of the hotel was great.

 "Great location"
Great location and very very nice staff. Rooms little small and double bed very small for two people. Could make the rooms a bit more cozier. A bit overpriced for the rooms you get. Other than that everything was great!

"You pay for what you get!"
Cheap and cheerful, rooms are small and cramped but if you want a cheap hotel just to sleep in then it's ideal. Cleaners are keen to clean the room, too keen at times especially after the 4th time of knocking us up to get in the room and it still wasn't 10am.

"Friendly and nice staff - great location"
Pros: Friendly and nice staff - great location. breakfast was reasonable (although on the third day i was a bit fed up)
Cons: Matress was not good. i'd also like to point out that there were only two towels for the guest and none in the bathroom (to use by the sink) - also it would be better if there would be a bathmat for the floor after showers.
