Very friendly staff and a brilliant location: right by the main shopping streets where there is also a whole host of restaurants and bars. the tv had a boatload of channels, and the breakfast was very good. 
For a non-smoking hotel, quite often cigarette smoke could be smelled quite strongly by the kitchen area, which is slightly off putting. may in the netherlands this is customary, but we had to pay for the hotel upfront on arrival (and preferably in cash). i was not expecting this and hoped to pay when we checked out. the hotel in terms of decor and furnishings was very basic, our room was a little old and dated with very old furniture. that said, it was clean and tidy, and really for the money, we could not have expected too much more. that said, the next time i visit amsterday, i will be looking to spend more money on the acommodation for an upgraded hotel. The couple that run the hotel are so friendly, and really made our stay fab. the rooms themselves are fairly basic but had everything we needed and were clean and tidy.Loos smelt a bit but i guess that's what you get with a shared bathroom, didnt put a downer on the stay tho.Pan

Location is goodIt is not ture that all rooms have a river view. there are only 2 shower rooms on the second floor and the hook is broken. no shampoo or shower gel. frankly speaking, this place is just a normal hostel, not a hotel.Anonymous

Good location, close to city centre and in nice area.The shared showers had nowhere to hang clothes therefore you had to either walk down the corridor wearing just a towel, or leave your clothes in the corridor outside the shower. the toilet on the second floor wasn't even fixed to the floor.Anonymous

Hotel needed some updating, we stayed in room 12 which was on the ground floor and a good size, very conveniently located for all the sights boat trips and transport for further affield.Needed a little updating, friends of ours stayed in room 8 and didnt fell it had been cleaned properly before useAnonymous

Fantastic location next to leidsiplan and good value for money for central location. triple room clean, spacious and beds good.Toilets in a poor standard of cleanliness and not many showers available for rooms that are not ensuite

Nice, spacious, clean double room with tv and wash basin. towels provided. decent breakfast. toilet close to room & shower room was never occupied when we needed it.Very expensive to stay in amsterdam and once you convert the euro you are paying around £65 per room per night, which you pay to stay in a budget hotel in uk... with your own bathroom.Anonymous

While having to leave the hotel early in the morning[8.00a.m.]insteat of breakfast we got a packed sandwich.it was very cheap.Their wasn't even a kettle to make a cup of tea.when you ordered a cup it was 1.50euro.the room was ancient and small and with 3 people there in a doubleroom.
