Best Western Leidse Square Hotel Amsterdam    

Great hotel .great location easy to get to with tram only 2.70 a ticket.Lovely area lots of pub and food places. easy walk from hotel to dam square.The hotel has a little bar . Good service. very helpfull staff.Rooms are not very big but does the job.

Stayed for three nights and the hotel was great value for money . Superb location about twenty minutes walk to the centre , loads of resteraunts and bars nearby . The room was very clean and spacious , a special mention to the receptionist Floor she was very helpful !!I will definately be staying again sometime this year .Only critisism is there was no sausages for breakfast , that's being very picky I know he,he .

Pros: The location of the hotel was excellent with 4 trams passing nearby . 3 of these went directly to centraal station and tram tickets can be purchased at the station for 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours. hotel was also central to the rijksmuseum and the pc hoofstraat, a great designer shopping street. the leidseplein is a lively area with bars. hotels and restraunts . it is also possible to walk to the centre of amsterdam from the hotel along a pededtrianised street, that is, apart from the trams which can appear quite quickly!!
Cons: Where, oh where was christmas in this hotel??? no sign of trees, decorations, no lights or candles. very disappointing atmosphere. the room , a superior one as requested, although quiet, clean and comfortable, had little by way of style due to the very basic, functional furniture. ikea meets b and q. the bathroom was clean and tidy but the towels were tired and thin with a hole in one of them. breakfast was available at 7.50 euro each per day and the bacon was cold and the eggs were rubbery and totally unpalatable. i took the boiled egg option the first day and they were fine but the second day. they were cold and runny. there was tinned fruit cocktail althought there was fruit to take away. when i complained about the eggs and bacon the receptionist deducted the cost of 2 breakfasts which was ok.

Pros: The room was not like the picture and we were slightly disappointed by this. we asked for a double room and ended up with a twin room.
