The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam is situated in a central location alongside the 'IJ' river at the Amsterdam harbour where enormous cruises dock. The hotel is at walking distance from the city centre and Amsterdam Central Station is very close, as well as several museums and Dam Square.
How to reach the Moevenpick Hotel City Centre?By train, from Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM. From the central station follow the steps below (by tram).
By tram, from Amsterdam Central Station: Take tramline 26 (Direction IJburg) or tramline 25 (Direction Passenger Terminal) from Central Station and leave tram at stop Muziekgebouw Bimhuis, which is the hotel's stop. Tramride is 5 minutes. From there you can walk to the hotel in approximately 3 minutes. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.
You can also walk to the hotel from Amsterdam Central Station. The walk to the hotel takes 10 minutes.
By car: Take Exit S 114 from the Eastern Ring Highway A10. Continue into the Piet Hein Tunnel; at the end of the tunnel take a right turn towards Amsterdam Central Station. After the third traffic light, take the second right turn and you will find the hotel. To reach the hotel from Haarlem take exit S103.

The hotel were very accommodating with early check-in and late check-out. there is a bike rental facility in the basement parking lot which is really useful, as although the hotel is only 10 mins walk from central station it was great to be able to bike around the city.
We were told the breakfast buffet was 12 euros, but on check out discovered it was 23 euros per person...it was a delicious buffet if you made use of it, but extremely expensive if you are just having some coffee and a light breakfast.Van Rooyen

The movenpick hotel is one of the best hotels ive stayed in in europe, the service was excellent staff were very helpful, food was lovely, it was overall a very welcoming stay and i will definately go back!Nothing at allcliff

The location, staff and facilities i found to be excellent. the concierge even provided an additional shuttle to central station to ensure we made the train to the airport.The only point i feel worth mentioning is you have to walk past the hotel entrance and back on yourself because of it's location on the docks, a bridge like the one used by the adjacent building would have been easier. a small sticking point to an otherwise excellent stay.wilkinson

The bar area was very nice and the food served there was very good and reasonably priced.Service in the main restaurant was sloppy to say the least. little things like always getting chipped cups and plates.Anonymous

Brilliant and helpful staff - especially the receptionish and the concierge. excellent views. terrific executive room. attention to detail is great - e.g. list of tv channels, bottle of water. good range of breakfast options - fantastic that egg options are cooked fresh for you. liked the shuttle to the station.The location was a bit of a drag after a day treking around amsterdam, but the free shuttle off-set that a bit.Le Vesconte

The staff at moevenpick hotel were pleasant, very welcoming when we arrived and on checking out. they greeted us every time we came into the hotel and going out. because of their great customer service myself and other guests would not hesitate in staying there again or at another moevenpick hotel. i would recommend this to anybody on any type of holiday.Wong

Staff were great, room service was good, clean room with wonderful view of the harbour, comfortable beds and not too expensive.One thing. the parking is not free! it clearly states on this site that the parking is free. this is not the case. there is a free car park under the bridge and round the the corner but the parking under the hotel is not free. i had to shell out 50 euros for a single night for parking. the staff directed me to this car park and later told me that the free poarking was elsewhere. it practically ruined my whole stay there.Anonymous

Hotel moevenpick was in a great location, i could see it as soon as i walked out of amsterdam central station and it was only a few minutes walk away.
we got a free upgrade to a junior suite which was lovely - the rooms were very clean and modern and had a pleasant view.
next door was a music concert hall which had a cafe with full water views and a fresh healthy menu. even the coffee was quite good. we also saw a symphony while we were there so that was an easy night out!
