How you can get to NH Caransa Hotel
1) From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes a train runs from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport, go to the central hall; here is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station run from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).
2) From Amsterdam Central Station: You can take tram 9 from the square in front of the station to 'Rembrandtplein'. From there you can walk to the hotel in approximately 1 minute. The trams in Amsterdam normally run from 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

Cons: Hotel staff charged my bank card 3 times for hotel stay and said she had cancelled them but had not, it took over two weeks to resolve this and the hotel denied charging us more than once even though we sent them proof in the form of bank statement which clearly showed the caransa charging us on 3 seperate occassions.
our room did not have a window that opened for fresh air either and i felt this was a safety issue if a fire was in hotel, it was extremely hot and stuffy in the room and had to get staff to check air con.

Cons: I came back to the hotel after the doors were locked and it took about 10 minutes for someone to let me in.
Cons: Urgent: the hotel must place serious attention on the behavior of their front end staff (or reception staff). the middle-aged staff (excluding the younger/newer staff) had very poor communication skills and were very often rude in their responses. we clearly noted this on several occasions with many guests. they also had very poor knowledge of the area and did not properly provide any useful information to the guests regarding the the city. the staff will discourage me from recommending the hotel to others.
Cons: The website didn't make it clear that the hotel was merely reserved and that we would have to pay at check out. this needs to be made clearer to people who are booking... it was just a good job i took my bank card with me, i don't usually.

Cons: Having to walk across the square to a sister hotel for coffee/breakfast etc is not most convenient. although the location is extremely central, the busy square also means noisy and rowdy at night.

Cons: The pavement directly outside the hotel is being re-done which meant workmen would start their drilling at any time from 7am - very off putting when all i wanted was a relaxing week off! also, we ordered room service (two continental breakfasts) which had to come from the restuarant opposite the hotel. the breakfast arrived only after we called to chase it an hour after booking and when it arrived it was very cold and the choice of breakfast was poor.
