When you get to Amsterdam central station take tram 9 to Rembrandtplein and it stops just outside the hotel. You can get tram passes that enables you to get around amsterdam very easliy. we visited Anne Frank House and that was a must. Red light district off Dam Square just behind the Hotel Koplonskys (hope i spelt correct), and definately worth a visit. Boats down the can go from outside central station it was a lovely informative trip

Pros: I went to nh caransa in amsterdam rembrandt square in 2010, i found the location, staff and service so good, i would not book anywhere else in amsterdam, this location is excellent for siteseeing, eating (especially pancakes) just downstairs, 5mins from the dam, van gogh, canals, shops, clubs, it is excellent. rooms are big, clean, comfortable and good quality. i recommend it to young and old.

Pros: Hotel was central and ok to stay in for a few days
Cons: Hotel staff charged my bank card 3 times for hotel stay and said she had cancelled them but had not, it took over two weeks to resolve this and the hotel denied charging us more than once even though we sent them proof in the form of bank statement which clearly showed the caransa charging us on 3 seperate occassions.

our room did not have a window that opened for fresh air either and i felt this was a safety issue if a fire was in hotel, it was extremely hot and stuffy in the room and had to get staff to check air con.

"Excellent facility and location"

Pros: Excellent facility and location. the suites are well priced and provide good space.
Cons: Urgent: the hotel must place serious attention on the behavior of their front end staff (or reception staff). the middle-aged staff (excluding the younger/newer staff) had very poor communication skills and were very often rude in their responses. we clearly noted this on several occasions with many guests. they also had very poor knowledge of the area and did not properly provide any useful information to the guests regarding the the city. the staff will discourage me from recommending the hotel to others.

Cons: The website didn't make it clear that the hotel was merely reserved and that we would have to pay at check out. this needs to be made clearer to people who are booking... it was just a good job i took my bank card with me, i don't usually.

Cons: Having to walk across the square to a sister hotel for coffee/breakfast etc is not most convenient. although the location is extremely central, the busy square also means noisy and rowdy at night.

Pros: Desk attendant took about 5 seconds to find my reservation. quick check in. my room was lovely (my travelling companion booked on another site and had a much smaller room-same price, not sure if i was just lucky with room selection). i would definitely consider easytobook again and the nh hotel chain.
