hotel was in walking distance of everywhere we wanted to stay. it's a lovely street with some great bars and restaurants around it. we ate at humphrey's restaurant opposite for a couple of nights as it had great food and at very reasonable price. i would definitely recommend the hotel as it was clean and the staff were very helpful and pleasant.

The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are spacious, the mattress is very comfortable. The bathroom is considerably bigger than in most hotels in Amsterdam. Also, there is a mini fridge which is great given the two super markets within walking distance. Internet is free in the lobby for a half hour but if you want to use it in your room, you have to pay. Here's a hint - if you have an iPad, do not buy from the front desk but in the room as it is about $5 cheaper using the internet especially for smart devices.

Great Location, Superior rooms are of a good size, anything smaller would not have been suitable. The shower stopped working half way through and we had to change rooms however it would have been good to get it fixed instead of being inconvenienced of changing rooms, other then that, I would recommend the hotel.

Cons: A small point: we booked the hotel on a special deal which, according to the web site, was euros 196 and required pre-payment. when we checked out, there had been no pre-payment taken (apparently) and the cost went up to euros 206 due to city taxes. really, if the web site says 'pre-payment of euros 196' the money should be debited at once and that should be the final sum payable. so, in future, why not include the city taxes in the costs advertised on the web site, and take pre-payment on that basis? it would be clearer and prevent customers wondering if they have been charged twice.

Pros: The hotel location is superb, the staff are helpfull and friendly, the rooms are clean and tidy and cleaned well by the chamber maids, there are smoking rooms on the 3rd floor, this was my 3rd stay at the nh city centre hotel and would most definately recomend this hotel as a good all round 3 srar hotel.

requested a canal view room on arrival and they managed to do this for us. good to have tea & coffee facilities and a fridge in the room.

Cons: The central location comes with noise from the street and since there is no ac you have to sleep with the window open. but as long as you have earplugs you'll sleep like a baby:)

Cons: Building work going on in the room next door at 8am, when we made a complaint the member off staff was rude, did not offer an apology and said well it was your last night anyway. unacceptable and will not stay here again.
