Easy to find and very convenient location. the staff are very friendly and accommodating.The single rooms can be quite small and despite having a tv there was no way to operate it. breakfast is very simple but wholesome value for money.Anonymous

The hotel itself was quite charming and had character.The staircase. you would want to be fit and agile to reach your room, and maybe some climbing equiptment.Anonymous

Good location. central. very close to centraal stationRoom was very small from what the pictures looked like. no bathroom in room had to share with others on the same floor. which is fine but for a hotel!!! Anonymous

Excellent location, very friendly staff, basic rooms but clean and all you'll need. this is one to check out if you're going to the 'dam purely for the smoke, as smoking is permitted :)If you're unlucky enough to be on the 4th floor the stairs are a killer! super steep, and after spending all day chain-smoking, stuck firmly to your seat you will definately feel out of breath at the top!Anonymous

The location of this hotel is excellent just round the corner from the red light district. if its somewhere cheap and cheerful your looking for this is the place. and helen(scottish) in the hotel was always helpful and john allowed us to use things from trhe kitchen at night. nice breekie of bacon and eggs and a pot of tea/coffee to wash it down with. i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to go to amsterdam for the smoke as they also allow smoking in the rooms just my cup of tea thanks to all the staff at the old nickel for a fab 2 days p.s the beers in this hotel are fab and i hope to sample more when i returnAs its right in the main part of town it can be noisy but if your either to drunk or melted to notice(ear plugs). and my only other fault would be helen dam that women. when we booked it cost £130 but when we arrived helen had a nice little laugh at my expence when she said that will be 500 euros my chin dropped but my partner later told me she was already given the wink and they both laughed at my chin hitting the floor before relising helen was only joking around yeah thanks helen no really there is no negatives about this hotel the noise well it s quite around 2 anyway the only reason i knew there was noise is getting up for the toilet is sleept like a baby albeit there was alchol and smoke involved. if going in the summer pack a fan and as i gets warm in the room apart from that great hotel great value for moneyAnonymous
