Lobby & bar were impressive, staff were friendly & helpful. Room was not of 4 star standard. I've stayed in a lot of A'dam hotels over 25 years and this was the worst 4 star. Very cheap furnishings, carpet, bedding, towels etc - even the toilet paper. Cigarette burns on the net curtains. Big black marker pen scrawled on the wall. No drawers for clothing. Tea & coffee facilities and the safe were on shelves that were too high to use comfortably, and the kettle leaked when pouring. No fridge or mini-bar. No bath. Poor water pressure for shower. I've stayed in 3 star hotel rooms of better standard.

Pros: Staff were very helpful regarding tram information and where to find services in amsterdam when asked. the buffet breakfast experience was excellent.
Cons: I have no negative experience of the hotel itself. easy book did not make it clear that the 5% city tax was not incusive in the tax charges which lead to some confusion.

Pros: Jeroaim (i cant get the spelling right), was extremely helpful at the reception. overall reception staff was very courteous and responsive.
Cons: However, when we arrived at midnight and requested for directions to the leidseplin square for nightclubs, the older lady at the reception was surprised and said that we mustnt go out at night because all nightlife shuts at 2 am. however, we trusted our research on the internet and went to club paradiso, which was open until 4 am. you mus brief your reception staff that most of the younger generation comes to amsterdam for the nightlife and they should be well aware of directions and timings.(the timings vary by day of week)

Pros: Great location on the park. not as central as you would expect, though... still need to take the tram. the neighborhood is lovely, the rooms are quiet, and the staff is friendly.
Cons: The bathrooms are a little odd in the basic rooms. they are just frosted glass stalls in the room with a toilet and shower in it.

Pros: The location of the hotel was perfect for our trip, and had we paid slightly less for our room we'd have been very happy with it.
Cons: The toilet is in the same room as the bed, with a frosted glass door (that didn't shut properly), so privacy was a bit of an issue. also the price of the room was excessive considering it's size, and the fact breakfast was not included.
