Sarphati Hotel is situated at a beautiful park and is an ideal base for visiting Amsterdam. The Sarphatipark is situated in the very centre of Amsterdam, just a five minutes walking distance away from the famous canals (Grachtengordel) in the centre of Amsterdam with their ancient houses.
This part of the centre has many inexpensive bars and restaurants and also a large shopping centre which will please the budget shopper. Also, an important convenience for business travelers is that one of the biggest conference centres and trade fairs in Europe, the Rai, is only a few tram stops away from this cosy hotel.
Sarphati Hotel is also located near the famous museum area with museums such as; the Rijksmuseum, the Rembrandt museum and the Van Gogh museum. Opposite these museums you will also find the 'Concertgebouw' (concert hall of Amsterdam).
How to reach the Sarphati Hotel?1) From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).
2) From Central Station: At Central Station take tram nr. 25 and get off at tram stop 'Sarphatipark'. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.
3) By car: From the highway A2 go straight into the “Rijnstraat”, this street changes into “van Wouwstraat”. At the first big intersection you turn left into the “Ceintuurbaan”. After about 250 meters you will find Sarphati Hotel on your left hand side, opposite the Sarphatipark.

Clean room including bathroom, buffet breakfast, location near the centre
It is clear that the hotel wants to use the space very efficiently, however, the (single) room was very very small, there was little space in the restaurant and the stairs are too steep (it may be unconvenient for some people with heavy luggage / kids etc.). i was there just for one night so it was ok for me. Room was very clean as were shower and toilet facilities. staff were very friendly and helpful. location was excellent as transport links were very close but the hotel was in a very quiet area.Stairs were a bit of a problem. lack of drawer space in room and a small kettle would have been nice!Anonymous

Breakfast is okay1)phone in room not workable at all despite my several requested either to fix it or change the other room. but ended up nothing they can do for me.
2)when return back to hotel to collect my luggage later after check out, the reception said no toilet for me to use there. & asked me to find other places else.

Good location.Do not stay here if you have a young family as there is no lift and the stairs are soooooooooooooo steep as with all old buldings in amsterdam. best for young travellers.Anonymous

Beautiful little hotel in a great part of amsterdam. can easily walk to the centre and hotel is located close to great parks and restaurants. breakfast was incredible and free hot drinks and fruit were available all day. beautiful rooms, great spot. highly recomended.Anonymous

Receptionist on at the time was quite rude - breakfast time was an absolute mess as she said she couldn't do everything at once and thankfully we are all different. this is a hostel not a hotel and should be advertised as such.
