Surprise 5-Star Hotel Amsterdam    

Pros: Rooms good size. lovely building

Pros: A fabulous hotel, very grand as its name implied. room was fantastic, upgraded to city view and rececived a free further upgrade to a superior deluxe room. free mini bar was a nice touch and helped towards a relaxed stay. location fantastic.

Pros: It was a beautiful hotel and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. i would highly recommend it.

Pros: Fantastic hotel right near centraal station. free mini bar topped up every day, clean towels every day, fabulous spa. you get a voucher for one massage for €30 (30 mins) when you arrive. i asked for a double bed (in case we got a twin) as it was our 1st aniversairy and they upgraded our hotel room, we had chocolates in our room and a card. we would definately recommend this room to anyone through this website. you will not be disappointed!!

50 euro , or $75 for overnight parking , absolutely rediculous.

Pros: Central hotel with fair sized room and access to indoor swimming pool and spa.
Cons: I had pre-paid for the hotel but on check out was asked to submit my credit card where they took payment and then credited it back to me as i had already paid. this cost me £30 in currency exchange and credit card fees so 'thanks' for that!

Pros: Hote was excellent. free minibar was a great bonus.

Pros: Superb rooms, restaurant, location and staff. this hotel was not mean with the little luxuries such as bathrobes, bathroom toiletries and not forgetting the free mini bar!

Pros: Building:
an interesting and quirky building with a few rough edges but makes a nice change from a standard corporate hotel.

bedroom:
pleasant if not outstanding room, rather smallish and dark but with very comfortable bed. free minibar a nice touch. large comfortable bathroom but with broken bathtap so had to use shower.

facilities:
nice leisure area with small pool and saunas/ steam room.

location:
handy for station and also for bars and restaurants.

staff/ service:
the check in and check out process was pretty much ruined by one unhelpful, rude member of staff. i don't expect, especially on arriving mid-morning, to be told that there are no twin rooms left and then contradictoraly and brusquely told to stump up an extra €30 if i wanted one - which i declined to do. the same staff member was disinterested and rude on check out the following day.

the booking process was also unsatisfactory - i had to chase a confirmation arrival which did not arrive within the two days stated, and then the booking information was wrong and i had to email back and forth to change it

definitely not the service i expect at a 5-star hotel.


Cons: Poor service both on booking and at the hotel on check-in and check-out as noted above.

Pros: I couldnt believe the standard of hygiene in this hotel, we had our towels and bed made twice a day and it was spotless
Cons: Just taught to eat lunch was very expensive but we knew this before sitting down
