Thorbecke Hotel is well located in the centre of Amsterdam night life. We are close to restaurants, shops, theaters, movie theaters and much more. In the same building on the ground floor there is a bar opened untill 4 a.m.
Close by the hotel you can find Muntplein (Munt Square), Leidsestraat, Leidseplein (Leidse Square), Kalverstraat, Rokin/Spui and Dam Square. The Redlight district and Amsterdam Central Station are 10 to 15 minutes walking distance and only 4 minutes away by tram (tram 4 and tram 9).

Friendly staff; the location is quite good for travellers who want to stay in the city centre within relatively close distance to the museum district (10-15min by foot); very basic small room, but clean; breakfast ok although not special; fair value for money; recommended for young travellers since the stairs are very steep and there is no elevator; 
Located above a noisy cafe, esp. on week-ends; i was staying on the last floor which is the best option to reduce nuisance as much as possibleAnonymous

The hotel is located in walking distance from centraal station. just outside, there is numerous shops and restaurants.Hotel is very basic and the room i was staying was really ugly and you could hear everything from other rooms. the stairs are extremely steep and very hard to get around after night out.Anonymous

Location and room sizeThe stairs are seriously a health hazzard...especially when trying to bring your suitcase up or down.
they were completing rennovations of the hotel when we stayed so we had a lovely view of scaffolding, which had not been previously mentioned to us......
the shower didn't work, when we did get it to work it was scalding hot water and then didn't turn off!Burnham

This was my 2nd time i've stayed here, i really like it. the staff are really freindly and helpful, it is excellent (and i can't emphasis excellent enough!) value for money and it is in a great location, not too far away from the city centre, yet not close enough for it to be noisey and busy. i highly recommend it!I can't really think of anything!
it's perfect for me because i only littrally want a bed and breakfast in the morning, i suppose if you are after a hotel with lots of facilities or something, this might not be the place.Anonymous

Great little apartment - could have slept 5!Our tv was a bit broken
