How to reach the Tulip Inn Hotel City West?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 17 from the square in front of the station to the Hoekenes (tussen meer). From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 10 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

The hotel room was quite larger than i expected it to be, for what we paid for it. we had free parking by the hotel, which meant we didn't have to drive to the amsterdam town centre. the tram station was only a few blocks from the hotel so it was easy to walk there. the trams took us straight to the tourist areas like westermarkt, dam square and centraal. there was also a spar convenience store very near the hotel so we just bought breakfast from there instead of eating in the hotel.Anonymous

Very clean & comfortable room
The television in the room was faulty, and this couldn't be fixed during our stay that night. as we wanted a relaxing evening in prior to running in the marathon, this wasn't particularly helpful. also poor service from the waiter at dinner, who found it difficult to accept that one of our party wanted a simple pasta & chiken dish that wasn't on the menu, but which couldn't have been difficult to arrange. not good customer service.Anonymous

In general it was a good value for money, service was great and the room was clean. It is not close to the center but it is very easy to get there as it is close to the tram.holmes

Very smooth welcome, booking all in order (often isn't when booked via internet agent) everything fine in the room, friendly staff. triple room perfect for family.Parking in the area is risky - lots of broken glass from recent break-ins to cars. also building site next door meant lots of dust.Anonymous

Easy to get to the tram to get into and out of town, and avoiding traffic, etc.Not well signed, hard to find. construction starts across the street at 7 in the morning, and it's loud. some staff not so friendly.tsui

The price is fairly cheap, thats about itVery far away from central, roughly 40 minutes away, also directions to hotel is bad, we caught the train from airport to central, when in fact we could have gotten off the station after the airport. this hotel is much closer to the airport than to central station. i would recommend another hotel closer to the city.Anonymous

The room i booked was very nice it was the superior room & it was fantastic.Well there were a lot of hidden charges that i didn't know about & that were not explained on the website that was the only problem.Aravena

The area was very quiet, despite the the proximity of schiphol airport, the tramway is within easy access, the room had always been cleaned when we arrived back at the hotel, even in the early afternoon.The breakfast is very expensive. if you eat everything available, it is good value for money, but i feel it would be better to have a cafeteria style service, where you pay only for what you eat. in addition, the breakfast area is very noisy, with carts full of clattering dished being wheeled around, chairs scraping on the floor, and, when there are a lot of people, much chattering. some soundproofing or -damping would be in order.
the dinner menu is very limited and the dinner staff is not very pleasant. if i had seen restaurants in the area, i probably would have gone there, but didn't feel like going back into the center of town every day to eat.Miriama Mosovska

Big rooms and friendly staff. it is a fair distance from the city centre (~20 mins) but the 17 tram is within a 5-10 min easy walk and very regular. if you come from schiphol airport it's far quicker to get the intercity train that stops at leylaan (1st stop) and get the 17 from there to the hoekenes stop. the directions from the hoekenes stop to the hotel are good and you can download them from the hotel's own website.mr christian tait
