Within walking distance of the apartment are the Anne Frank House, Western Church, Dam square with the must see Royal Palace and the Nine Streets shopping district rich with cafes and boutiques. Papeneiland, just a few minutes from the apartment on foot, is one of the city’s best examples of a traditional Brown Café and home to arguably the best Dutch Apple Cake in the city, but be warned, it can only seat about 20 people, so get in early. The World Heritage protected Central Canal Belt is just a short distance from the apartment and here you can see amazing canal houses perfectly preserved from the Dutch Golden Age. If you want to see how wealthy merchants lived during the 17th century make sure you visit the Museum Van Loon.
