      Amsterdam City Centre Details

The Amsterdam city centre includes one of the most important collections of Renaissance buildings and art in all of Europe. Indeed, there are a number of buildings dating to the period between the 16th and 17th centuries, known in Holland as The Golden Age, and these are all considered precious historical monuments. Most are located around a series of semicircular canals that surround the historical port.

In Amsterdam, the city centre doesnt only have historical monuments to offer, though. You can visit the wide variety of private art galleries, as well as museums located here and in the immediate surroundings of the city center. Visitors love to check out the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Anne Franks House and the Rembrandt House Museum, to name just a few of the popular ones. Besides cultural attractions you have plenty of bars, cafes and unique shops to check. Amsterdam is one of the most active cities in Europe, if not in the whole world!
