Dam Square is one of the hot spots in Amsterdam city center. Within walking distance from Central Station, Dam Square is where both locals and tourists gather for entertainment, people watching, famous attractions and shopping. There’s always something happening at the vibrant Dam Square; mimes, fair, street performers. If you prefer to be inside, there are plenty of shops near the Dam. Shopping mall Magna Plaza and department store Bijenkorf are just across the street from Dam Square and Kalverstraat is a stone’s throw away. Dam Square is also surrounded by main tourist attractions, such as Madame Tussauds, the Amsterdam Diamond Center, the New Church, the National Memorial statue and the Koninklijk Paleis (Royal Palace).
