If you enjoy history, you will love the Amsterdam Dungeon. This popular tourist attraction takes visitors on a virtual trip through the more horrific aspects of medieval Amsterdam history. There are live actors who act as guides for the groups who pass through this exhibition of anguish and torment, and audience participation is most welcome. You’ll get a lesson in macabre, ancient surgery, experience a sentencing at the Council of Blood, and have a nice chat with a local who is interested in selling your soul to the VOC.
The Amsterdam Dungeon also features a Labyrinth of the Lost, a walk through 17th century Amsterdam during the time of the Great Plague, and a roller coaster ride that will leave you gasping! The Dungeon is housed on the site that was once a medieval graveyard where many hundreds of tombstones have been found.
