If you are planning to visit Amsterdam this summer, make sure you don't miss the magnificent Grachtenfestival. The historic city center of Amsterdam - a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2010 - will boast a ten-day festival of classical music in many impressive locations. Aside from its exceptional locations, productions, and program, the Grachtenfestival has traditionally provided a stage for young talented musicians, giving them every opportunity to take the next step in their musical careers.
The Grachtenfestival will be held both indoors and outdoors - on pontoons on the canals, on boats, in splendid 17th-century canal houses, and in many other distinctive locations. Crowds gather wherever there is standing space, as in this photo by Ronald Knapp. The organizers ensure that ticket prices are kept affordable, and several open-air concerts are free to the public.
