Muiderslot Castle Amsterdam dates back to the year 1280, and is the castle of Count Floris V, its creator. The castle had its period of greatest productivity during the Dutch Golden Age, when poet and writer P.C. Hooft reside there. The fortifications and falconry on the castle are stunning, as are the gardens that surround the structure. Large sections of Muiderslot Castle are open to the public, and guided tours as well as audio tours are available.
The tours that visitors can take through Muiderslot Castle are many and varied. The Golden Age tour goes through the residential wings on the first floor. There is a Tower Route tour and a Knight’s Route tour as well. The castle is open from April 1 to November 1 from 10 Am to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and from 12 PM to 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday. From November 1 to April 1, the castle can be visited on Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
