There is a great way to reach the west of Amsterdam, and that is to arrive by the Sloterdijk Railway Station. This lovely station is two levels and is a very busy station for local commuters. Although Sloterdijk Railway Station was moved to its current location in 1985, it was not until 1997 that the Amsterdam Metro came to this station. Adding a metro station to Sloterdijk was a great move because it gave travelers from the north a faster and easier way to reach the center of Amsterdam.
The Sloterdijk Station is now more popular than ever due to the business district which was build around Sloterdijk. The old station of Sloterdijk was built back in the year 1956 but when they became concerned with preserving the beautiful old town of Amsterdam they moved all train service to the new location.
