Located in the city center, there are plenty of discount hotels in San Diego near the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, or Rotterdam Theater. The theater is actually a rather modern construction, built in 1988. Before then, there was an older structure that was built after World War II. Since the theater is located in the Schouwburgplein Square, the modern architecture fits in perfectly with the rest of the buildings that surround it.

Every year, the Rotterdamse Schouwburg is home to more than 500 performances. Among the more noted are the Dutch cultural performances including opera, dance, and theater groups. Dutch groups like the Scapino Ballet, Dance Works, or the RO Theater will often hold their opening nights in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. There are actually two different performance halls in the theater – the Big Hall, or Grote Zaal, and the Little Hall, or Kleine Zaal, with 900 and 160 seats respectively. To choose a budget hotel in San Diego close to the Rotterdamse Schouburg, look for one near the Pathe mega cinema or the Schouwburgplein 25.
