Sir Norman Foster is the architect behind the asymmetric design of the World Port Center. He originally designed the building in 1992 as part of a master plan for the entire area, which included hotels in Rotterdam within reach of the World Port Center. The first tower rose 124 meters, then in a continuation of his original plan, Foster and his partners added another tower. Today, the 2 towers are fraternal twins; one is 4-sided, the other is semi-circular and they both rise to different heights. It is easily one of the most recognizable structures in the city and you can see the towers from many of the respected cheap hotels in Rotterdam around the World Port Center.
Inside the Center is the CONFIO, which is a business and conference center. The conference rooms are on floors 29, 30, 31 and 32, which provides visitors with magnificent views of the river below and Rotterdam. There are 7 rooms on the top 4 floors with spectacular scenic vistas. The Crow’s Nest in the core building has a glazed terrace for viewing as well, while the World Port Center also houses the Rotterdam River Authority.
