One of the more unusual residential neighborhoods in the world can be found on Overblaak street, just a short distance from the Blaak Subway Station. This neighborhood was designed by architect Piet Blom, and is formed entirely by cube houses. Cube houses, or Kubuswoningen, are actually designed with three flours, a ground entrance, a second floor with a living room and kitchen, the third floor with bedrooms and the top floor may be used as an optional garden. Built in 1984, these houses are about 100 square meters in floor area and there is an open house to tour through.
