Hotels in Spangen
Spangen is a district in Rotterdam that is located towards the west of the city center. It is a smaller district with just under 10,000 inhabitants. One of the most important features of the district is that it is home to the Sparta Stadium Het Kasteel, which has been a major influence in renovating and rejuvenating this older community. The Mathenesserlaan Esser Bridge over the River Maas is the main entrance into the Spangen district, and the walks along the dike and the quay as far as Spanish Bay are ideal for the whole family. The architecture in the area is mostly from the early 1900's, with some of the first uses of common garden areas in mass housing units seen in the country. Although this area had historically been less well maintained than other districts, recent interest in revitalizing the area has really lead to some major changes and a resurgence in the shopping, dining and entertainment options for travelers to the area.
