The World Trade Center is a familiar sight to visitors of Rotterdam. Many tourists and businessmen opt to stay in the area of the World Trade Center in Rotterdam, as it provides them with the chance to see the world famous Port. It also allows access to the many opportunities presented by remaining close to the business core. In the ground floor, there is an Irish pub florist and several other shops and boutiques.
The architect J.F. Staal began construction of this center in 1936, and completed the work in 1940. It sat untouched on Coolsingel and the Bleursplein until 1984, then during that year construction began on a new high-rise tower on the top of this low-rise structure. The green tower reaches 93 meters, dates from 1987 and is the work of Rob van Erk. The additions and alterations make it ideal for holding trade fairs, meetings, parties, receptions and congresses.
