Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City

The Javits Convention Center is known as one of the best locations for trade shows and expositions in New York City. It's an imposing five block long structure of steel and glass overlooking the Hudson River. It has 1.8 million square feet, and includes an auditorium that seats 2500, and a 150 foot high lobby, known as the crystal palace. Designed by world famous architect I.M. Pei, the Javits convention center has become a landmark for visitors as well as a place for conducting business. The Javits Center is somewhat isolated, so if you're planning to attend an event there, you'll likely be staying in a hotel room somewhere else in the city, so you'll need transportation to the center. It's easy to get there by cab, or you can come via subway and bus. The convention center has several restaurants, but you'll find eating there very expensive. During the course of each year, the Jacob Javits center hosts the Art Expo, the New York National Boat Show, the New York International Motorcycle Show and the Gay and Lesbian Business Expo, in addition to other events. Even if the purpose of your visit to New York is not to attend a convention, taking a look around the Javits Convention center is worth a visit, just to marvel at the incredible architectural design of this building.
