Empire State Building New York

The Empire State Building is one of New York's most famous tourist attractions. It is more than a quarter of a mile tall with 103 floors, 6,500 windows and 73 elevators. It has been classified as a New York City Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. A viewing deck called the Observatory is located on the 86th floor and 1,050 feet above ground. Visitors can get panoramic views of the city from the open-air promenade or the glass-enclosed pavilion. The Observatory was open to the public in 1931 and has had 110 million visitors since then. The Empire State Building has two restaurants, a sushi bar, three coffee shops, a drug store, a Hallmark card shop, a post office, and two banks. The lobby features several exhibits including memorabilia from the 1933 movie, King Kong, starring Fay Wray. On the second floor of The Empire State Building is the NYSKYRIDE that offers a virtual aerial tour of New York City on an 18x18-foot screen. Visitors get to feel what it would be like to lift off the top of the Empire State Building in a helicopter and glide past the Statue of Liberty and through Times Square and Wall street. Visitors also get a virtual ride on the Coney Island Cyclone at Astroland.
