SoHo and Tribeca are two of the most famous neighborhoods in New York – known for being trendy and home to artists, actors and others who appreciate an eclectic and vibrant atmosphere. SoHo means the area South of Houston street and Tribeca refers to the “triangle below Canal” street between the Hudson River and Broadway. In recent years, Tribeca's boundaries have expanded north almost to Houston, so the two areas have nearly melded together. SoHo is known for being the artist's hangout in New York, and has the art galleries to prove it. There are also great boutiques and shops and a wide array of restaurants. The nightlife is some of the best in the city. Tribeca is now, and always has been, the publishing district of New York, perhaps the reason it was the neighborhood JFK, Jr. chose for his home when he was running George magazine. The streets of this triangular neighborhood are filled with publishing houses, both large and small. Tribeca is also home to many quaint restaurants and some good nightlife, though it is generally a bit quieter than SoHo. Most of the residents in this neighborhood are single professionals as compared to the artists and actors of SoHo. If you're a visitor to New York, these lively areas are definitely worth a day of your visit, to ensure you get the true flavor of artistic Manhattan life
