Manhattan's Upper East Side is probably best noted for being home to the rich and famous – lots of art dealers, politicians, and socialites reside here. It is truly the blue blood and old money neighborhood in Manhattan, and the closer your apartment is to Fifth or Madison Avenue, the bluer your blood. For the visitor, the Upper East Side deserves a stroll just to see the beautiful buildings and the meticulously maintained parks. But, there are also quite a few great attractions here, too. No visit to New York is complete without taking in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, whose home is in the elegant neighborhood. You'll also find the Guggenheim Museum, with its ever changing and diverse exhibitions. At the Guggenheim, even the building itself is an exhibit, as it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Upper East Side is also home to the Museum of the City of New York, the El Museo del Barrio and the Goethe Institute; all definitely worth your time. And, then of course, there's the park. Central Park, that is. Central Park is the City's most famous green space and it borders the entire western length of the Upper East Side. You must visit the Central Park Zoo, ride the carousel, take a carriage ride, and have lunch at Tavern on the Green.
