How to reach the Vincci Avalon ?By public transport, from JFK Airport: Take the free quick and easy Airtrain to Jamaica Station. This drops you off right at the "Jamaica" Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). From Jamaica Station, take the Blue metro line E, V and get off at Lexington-3 Aves, 51 St. change to green line 6 to Downtown ang get off at 33 St. The hotel is approximately 10-minutes walking distance from the metro stop.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. the room was a perfect size, not really small like most nyc rooms. big, clean bed and bathroom. would stay again in a heart beat.Anonymous

We checked in after 10pm, and even though i had notified them in advance that we would be arriving late and they had our contact details, they did not have a room available for us as someone had 'not checked out'. we were moved to another hotel after a 30 minute wait at 11.30 at night. this disrupted our trip as we had only a short time in new york and had to spend time the next morning bringing our bags back to the avalon. they did offer to pay for taxis, but refused to refund the room for the night as we had paid in advance and had an advanced booking, eventhough the member of staff had told us they would refund the nights stay. we had done everything in terms of our side of the agreement of the 30 day special - paid in advance and let them know directly of special requests etc, but they knew that we would have to move hotels from earlier in the day and did not pre arrange anything or offer us a refund for the inconvenience of situation. this really put a dampener on the trip and i have written a review advising people to not expect to be guarenteed a room if they book in after 10pm. we do not know that they did not re-sell the room for one night to someone who walked in off the street and offered them the rack rate instead of our discounted rate. Hotel was in an excellent location minutes from empire state building. our room was upgraded when we arrived without asking. room and facilities at hotel were very clean and spacious - which is not normal in new york hotels. staff were very friendly and helpfulWe had two fridges in our room but neither appeared to be workingHarrington
