Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World is a unique attraction in the eastern suburbs of Auckland. The top-rated animal park gives visitors a first-hand look at scores of different species of marine life using cleverly crafted underwater passages combined with moving sidewalks. The tanks at Kelly Tarlton’s hold a wide variety of aquatic life from the waters surrounding New Zealand – including massive sharks, graceful stingrays, seahorses, piranhas and Moray eels.

A visit to Kelly Tarlton’s will usually take two hours – feeding time is particularly popular with visitors, so expect bigger crowds during those hours. In addition to the plethora of fish and associated aquatic life, Kelly Tarlton’s has a truly unique Antarctic display, including a replica of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s hut. The top attraction in this part of the park is the penguin colony. Kelly Tarlton’s is open daily from 9am to 6pm, with ample free parking available for guests.
