Auckland Airport is New Zealand’s largest airport, with over 12 million passengers through its terminals. The airport serves as Air New Zealand’s main hub, and handles an estimated 70% of all international travelers arriving in the country. The Auckland Airport has it’s roots in the late 1920's, when a local aeronautics club leased a patch of land from a local dairy farm to take off and land in the three club-owned planes. By the 1960's, work was underway to make Auckland Airport a major player in the Australasian skies.
Today, Auckland is home to the fourth busiest airport in the region, and as such, Auckland Airport includes the sort of services international and domestic travelers have come to rely on when frequenting the skies. There are a variety of eateries and shopping establishments within the airport, services to assist those travelling with special needs, and plenty of suitable facilities for families hoping to entertain children during a layover.
