Hotels in Marlborough
Marlborough is a region in the northeast part of New Zealands South Island. This is the countrys main wine making region, and tours of vineyards are available. The waters known as the Marlborough Sounds are a major New Zealand tourist attraction, and are great for swimming, fishing, boating and sight-seeing. They are a must-see for any visitor. Bush trails for hikers are known as the Marlborough tramps, and are unlike any hiking trails you've seen anywhere else. The two main communities in Marlborough are Picton and Blenheim. Both are small, but are points of entry for the Marlborough Sounds. Here you can rent boats or join a guided water tour. If you like to hike but hate carrying things, take the Queen Charlotte Walkway. You walk through lush coastal forest, while people in boats haul all your gear. There is very comfortable lodging along the way. Cycle tours are available, too. Besides the winery tours, you can also visit olive groves. Children love the Seahorse World Aquarium in Picton. They can also see crayfish, sharks, stingrays and other marine animals, as well as a preserved twenty-foot giant squid. It is one of only two in the southern hemisphere.
