The Bergen Exchange is the tourist information center (turistinformasjonen), but it houses much more than this. Those planning a stay in hotels in Bergen, Norway can benefit from a visit to the Fresco Hall within these walls, containing murals painted by Axel Revold from 1921 to 1923 that are considered a national treasure. The murals detail information about Norway in general and Bergen in specific.
The murals in the Fresco Hall are divided into three themes. The North Country wall contains three panels representing the fishing trade in North Norway, the preparation and drying of the fish, and the trip south to Bergen. The Bergen Wall has four panels, detailing the trip of the fish from Bergen to world markets on large vessels. The World Wall of 3 more panels shows how man is important even in the machine age, as well as how natural products are cultivated and processed and that nature is abundant. If you like art, be sure to also visit the nearby Haakon's Hall and the Kintting Museum.
